I heard about this the other day, but had no clue who he was. Thanks for some context.

I watch a lot of HGTV, which is like 90% Canadian produced shows, I'm surprised I'd never heard of him. Thank christ at least it wasn't one of the Property Brothers...

And finally, thanks to our friends at Janson Media and BobRoss Inc., we’ll broadcast every episode of the original Bob Ross show, The Joy of Painting, in an epic marathon starting today at 2PM PST on http://www.twitch.tv/bobross. That’s 403 episodes of Bob Ross that will play over the course of 8.5 days. Just for fun, we’re releasing a special Bob Ross Kappa emote too (KappaRoss).

I just read an old news story today from the time right before the Pixar movie Up came out. It was about this little girl who was a cancer kid who was dying and her dying wish was that she wanted to see Up. So Pixar sent an employee to her house with an advanced cut on DVD and she got to watch Up. She was so weak from all the cancer that she couldn't even keep her little kid eyes open and her mom had to describe the scenes in the movie to her, but she got to see the movie. She died that very same day.

So I read that news story and I am literally more sad by the fact that I just saw a shiny pokemon and it died before I was able to catch it.

Just randomly listening to a Geoff Keighley podcast from GDC this year where he's interviewing Gabe Newell and Gabe was talking about entertainment that he likes and how he dreads the thought of not being able to experience them in new ways again (relating to fans wanting to see more developments from franchises like Half Life, L4D, etc) and one of the examples he listed was Terry Pratchett and how he was a fan of Discworld and how he feared with Pratchett's Alzheimer's he was afraid he'd never get to experience another Discworld novel. I thought it was eerie that this conversation was recorded literally a week before Pratchett's death earlier this year.

Alan Rickman died. Same age as Bowie, also from some form of cancer.

Dave Mirra apparently killed himself.
This one is really getting to me. He was a huge childhood icon to me, can't believe it.

Its a moniker the media made for Gordie Howe way back in the day that stuck. He died today in Ohio at 88.
