News flash: lotta Japanese games have terrible names. Book by the cover and what not. What would have been a far more damning thing to point out about this game is its AR functionality - which turned this game from something interesting into something creepy and dreadful. Basically, would you like some Love Plus in your Final Fantasy?

Wikipedia wrote:Naotaka Hayashi is the scenario writer for Bravely Default, having previously been the scenario writer for Steins;Gate, and is developing the plot and the characters.[3] The games producer Tomoya Asano was attempting to make a game with "appealing and likable characters and a scenario that surprised players", and after encountering Steins:Gate, asked Hayashi's employer, 5pb., if he could work on the project.[3] During development, Asano asked Hayashi to increase the age of the characters, and make sure that all the characters were appealing, whether good or bad.[3] Hayashi explained in an interview that the title Bravely Default means "have courage and renounce the promises and responsibilities that are expected of you".
NOPE. I'm out! This game is dead to me.

So I'm in Osaka for the next week and have no idea of what to do with myself over the weekend. I visited Kyoto and Nara last time I was here, but didn't get a chance to plan ahead this time.

Any ideas?

I haven't seen Osaka castle, but that can't take up more than half a day at the most.

Found an "Otaku" area called Nipponbashi... going to go wander around.

Go gorge yourself. Osaka is historically the food capital of Japan. And it's supposed to have a good night life.

I'm good with the food as I was lead around a lot for it last time I was here, it is really good food between the okonomiyaki and tako yaki on top of all the sashimi I can eat... But as far as night life... I'm married and I don't speak Japanese... sooo not much to do there.

If I ever went to Japan I would eat as much raw seafood as they could shove into my mouth before I died. It would be the best. I would be like the fat gluttony guy from SE7EN, dead, face-down in a mountain of wasabi.

Go find an arcade and play some videogames. I'm not sure if Osaka has a real big electronic district like Akihabara in Japan but they should have arcades. Go check out some of the crazy ass arcade machines that use Magic the Gathering cards.

If you like Baseball you should go see a game at Koshien Stadium. Probably the most famous BB stadium in Japan because they hold the High School National Finals there during the summer.

I know it's Burger King, which is pretty much worthy of its own Sucks thread, but still, come the fuck on, Japan...

I tried the arcade thing... maybe I went to the wrong one... I was the only 30 year old Gaijin... probably the only person out of high school...

Too late to try baseball... I'm in the Delta lounge as we speak...

Side note... green tea kit kats are hard to find in downtown but all over the airport shops. Also green tea cherry blossom and blueberry cheesecake. I need to find a shop in the US with these.

Hehe, this guy's pretty funny.

He has a lot of other good ones too, Comic Con, Blizzcon, etc. Go check his channel out. He's not really making fun of Japan so much as just being awkward, which is his schtick.

japantoday.com wrote:There are many young Japanese men who, even if they want to go on a date, have little confidence in their ability to carry out an engaging conversation with the opposite sex. Maybe they’ve been so caught up in work that they’ve forgotten what constitutes interesting table talk, or maybe they’ve never even been on a date before. Maybe they’ve never even spoken with a woman before.

Whatever the case, there are guys out there who feel lost when it comes to showing a lady a good time. To those men, we recommend “Moe Date”, a new Japanese dating service where you can rent a girlfriend for a day of real simulated romance.

...

Finally, to answer the question that’s probably at the forefront of many of your minds, Moe Date makes it clear that it is not an escort service and employees are forbidden from entering hotels or private rooms with clients…unless they ask they take their “relationship” a step further.

In fine print, Moe Date explains that, on some occasions, girls may “confess their love” to repeater clients, in which case the client may hire them for another date without having to pay the extra fee. Receiving a confession also gives the client the right to request a special “room delivery course”, which is priced at 10,000 yen per hour and only available with staff aged 18 and above.

What a hot load of bullshit to say the women aren't prostitutes except for when they are. Also this is more about the article but saying real simulated makes no sense.

Edit: From the comments

Cruncyroll posts on twitter: "#WAIFUWEDNESDAY WHO'S YOUR FIST WAIFU OF THE NEW YEAR. THEY CAN BE DUDES - WE DON'T CARE WHO YOU LOVE."

I ironically RT it.

My work point of sale system crashes.

Someone on twitter replies: "@RyanHigginsRyan karma for taking the piss out of waifu's? Seems likely."

This is more about artists being ridiculous/insane when it comes to finding new and more crazy ways about expressing themselves but here it is. inb4 old.

Japanese artist surgically removes his genitals and prepares and serves it to 5 willing participants, garnished with button mushrooms and parsley

And I am pretty sure that may just be the strangest thing I have ever read on the Internet.
