Cheaters never prosper unless they're in the NFL.

"Cheaters" may prosper at times, but those who fail to convert with the game on the line never will, which is the more important constant.

What. Niners were down 22 pts and came all the way back. They converted with the game on the line like nobody's business. If it wasn't for the Ravens cheating (holding- multiple times down the stretch) and the refs looking the other way (like they did all game) the Niners win.

LiQuid wrote:I know you're sad cause your guys lost, but that was legitimately one of my fav SBs ever.
I really wish I was just an innocent bystander this year, because the action was frenetic, the drama palpable, the players chippy as fuck and ready to trade blows, and that 2nd half comeback by the Niners after the power outage was probably the most juiced I've been watching sports over the last year or so. Also, best half-time show ever? Has to be.

But the way that game ended was a fuckin' heart breaker. Bad no-calls, bad passes, fucking bitch-ass Joe Flacco eating clock in the endzone, all that stupid shit just eats away at your soul. And really, the most heartbreaking bits is that even though the Niners were clearly, and I mean, beyond a doubt 100% the better team - they didn't really deserve to win that game because they played like shit that entire first half. If the Niners play with just 20% of the oomph they did after the power outage during the first half, Kaep & Co are wearing rings and I'm partying in the streets of SF right now. Instead, I'm bandaging my foot right after kicking the shit out of a wall. Fucking sports, man.

You can talk all you like about who the better team was, but at the end of the day the sheer amount of things that the Niners could have done to win is just too great to overlook. You can't blame it on no-calls. You can't blame it on a shitty first half. You can't blame it on an INT. You can't blame it on the failed conversions late in the game. You can't blame it on a lucky special teams play. You can't blame it on the Safety Dance. You certainly can't say, unequivocally, that they were the better team because there were a LOT of instances where they weren't. Both teams shined for a half. What the 9ers did in the 2nd was borderline heroic but only because they shat themselves into a position where said heroics were necessary.

You're basically just saying what I've already said. Rectifying any one of these shitty shitty fuck ups could have won us the game. It's a shitty excuse, but the Niners beat themselves. Playing like shit for so long, they didn't deserve to win and it kills me. This is basically the same god damned Seahawks/Falcons game all over again, and I said the same things about the Hawks. Seahawks were the better team, but they only showed up to play half a game and therefore didn't deserve a win. The only real solace I can take in this all is that the problems here should be easily rectified and that the future looks brighter than it ever has for the first time in almost two decades for the franchise.

Week(end) was tragic so I missed a lot of the game. Tuned in just after the power-outage delay ended. I'm sorry about the 49ers Kenzo! But WOW their push back was incredible.

It's all good Jen. I hope your tragedy is not too bad and mostly just something like your VLR save getting deleted.

LiQuid wrote:I was just refuting where you said they were 100% the better team.
You can have something be better, and just not play up to that ability, which is what happened. Ravens came to play for 60 minutes, Niners didn't. Niners would have cleaned the floors with the Ravens if they had.

The timing rules can be difficult to understand at times. Kickoffs don't start the clock until the receiving team touches the ball and a fair catch (or a touchback for that matter) runs no time off the clock.

I wish they'd just fair caught the ball and took a stab at it from there. Vernon Davis looked great and I felt like he could've made something happen if Kaepernick could have gotten him the ball.

There were some mammoth holds in the game and with the bullshit "you've got to let them play the game" mentality I swear it seems like on Ravens could have stabbed someone at the 50-yard line and it wouldn't have gotten called. Just a lot of absolutely atrocious calls and I wish instead of Jerome Boger they'd gotten a better ref to officiate the game, like Mike Carey.

I wasn't clear about this rule either - I should have known it but I forgot.

I was furious at the end of the game, and it's mostly because of this. I just wanted one passing attempt - a hail mary, or monster VD run, or Kaep running the qb draw. Anything. Instead of our mediocre return guy doing a return. Ugh.
