Drunk Gaming

Postby KindGalaxy » Apr 26th, 2009 @ 2:27am

Drunk Tweets were discussed on the last podcast, in regards to Karen's epic updating WoW only to open Adobe Illustrator and become frustrated why her Hunter's Mark was a Sharpen command, ever gamed when drunk? What happened?

I've gone on my guild's Ventrillo drunk as hell, shouting childhood stories at those online, I've played WoW when drunk and dinged 4 levels and had a blast in general chat telling momma jokes, I've playing Quake 3 Arena hitting the W (forward) key constantly, not killing anything and just seeing the wall. I've playing Left 4 Dead drunk and won, I've played Street Fighter IV drunk and come out 50/50 in win/loss. I've gone to sleep with a Nintendo DS on my chest playing Dragon Quest IV, the battery died in the night and I lost around 2 hours.

You're a gamer, you're an adult, you go out, have some fun playing snooker, hitting the casino or nightclubs and come home, still jived and want to play some games; what do you do, what have you done?

A lot of drunk gaming in college. In my first year dorm, we had a Sega Genesis hooked up pretty much for the sole purpose of playing Madden '93 late at night while drunk. There was much screaming, cursing, chair-kicking, and controller-throwing because of it (meaning it was pretty much that same as when we'd play sober). Later in college, my housemates and I (there were 8 of us) played a lot of Nintendo while drunk (N64 and GameCube), like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Goldeneye/The World Is Not Enough, The New Tetris, Super Monkey Ball, etc., basically any 4-player game that involved killing/beating the other players.

Man, I left one out- we also had my old NES hooked up in my first year dorm. Alcohol + Power Pad = LOTS of injuries. Good times!

I can't imagine how annoyed my old EQ2 guild got at me for playing drunk, especially after voice chat got added. I'd show up to raids wasted and not even remember the outcome half the time. I eventually got deofficer'd and quit those guys for a different guild that seemed far more entertained by my antics. Sadly I'm not able to play and annoy/entertain more players with my raging alcoholism due to PC woes.

A group of internet friends that I've known since 2003 all have Xbox Live though, so quite often we're on there and I'm usually drunk when we play. I've been yelled at many times for declining L4D performance, and increased frequency of refill and bathroom runs.

I used to regularly play Halo 2 and get pretty wasted. I had to back off a bit after getting banned for a weekend for glitching the bomb on top of Headlong.

Usually I'll have friends over and we'll get wasted and I'll have the 360 set up in the front room. Then we try as best as we can to play multiplayer on Halo or Gears or COD4. It ends up with us running around spinning the camera unintentionally and getting completely confused. Then we throw on some Pantera or Metallica and wrestle.
Thanks to The Geekbox, I have cured my addiction to gaming. I now have an addiction to comics. And Lost. =/

drunk rayman raving rabbits on wii is gobs of fun. it's actually the only time i touch that white box.

ive tried playing fighting games while drunk, but i get pissed when i lose, at times it comes to a point where i try to pick fights w/ whoever beats me. normally im a pretty happy drunk so when my friends and i start drinking and gaming they know to hide fighting games when a goofy drunken grin gets plastered onto my face.

dont think a geek bar would survive here in fresno but im pretty sure sf or berkley would be able to support one. why hasnt any entroponeurs pounced on this concept.

im thinking consoles and pc's hooked up to projectors aimed atevery wall. gobs of blacklight and laser shows. bar tenders and waitresses dressed as video game characters. think lara croft, doa girls, jill valentine, chun li, etc. why not call it "the geekbox."

also every night would be ladies night. otherwise it whould be just a huge moshpit of sausage. nother problem i see could be the weekly lotr vs starwars, or which star trek was the best, bar brawls

I bet they have them in big cities. There is one bar in my town and its all old people. My thing says Kalamazoo, MI but I live like in a small town an hour from it.

I bet SF or LA have one.

That'd be the most awkward bar in the world. A bunch of neck beards in the corner with their 4th Edition setup, a snooker table that has never been used and is covered in cobwebs, all the girls (3 of them) are alone in the corner and the rest of the geeks are taking pics of them with their iPhones with one hand and playing Monster Hunter in the other. They all have a fear of the public restroom due to high school trauma of wedgies and happy hour is when a cos-player in a Quark costume serves them at the bar.

I've done drunk Wii Sports and Guitar Hero/Rock Band with my wife and friends on multiple occasions. Singing for those things is SO much better than karaoke and the only perfect game I got on Wii Bowling was after some copious amounts of booze.

I've played WoW drunk tons of times. Back when I played my warrior, I had a horrible habit of getting blind drunk, getting on WoW and demanding my guild run a raid. I used to play main tank for my guild and I would sit there and wipe them over and over again on purpose. Suffice to say I don't MT anymore.

Drunk gaming makes things more interesting. Riding the manta in Super Mario Galaxy is not easier drunk, it's just conducive to more swearing.

I've found while playing MGO or GTAIV online, you can talk crazy shit and get away with it as long as you let everyone know "I'M DRUNK!"

Drunk Wii or Rock Band is perfect for the afterbar. I had a lot of fun playing Wii Sports with a girl that was too drunk to not swing the Wiimote with all her might and let her pants fall.

OK now that is some funny shit!!!

When I drink, I turn my gamer side off... unless it involves cards or dominoes... if its dominoes, then I get real racist when I play.

I've been totally spaced out and kept winning in Battlefield Heroes last night, and making some mom jokes, woke up curled up around my computer desk. I got up and walked to the living room where my wife was asleep clutching the Xbox360 controller with Peggle on, suddenly I didn't feel so bad; besides the screeching headache. I've tried playing NobyNoby Boy totally smashed and I remember getting frustrated more then experiencing a zen experience. I've heard people getting a bottle of Absinthe and playing NobyNoby Boy and getting this zen experience, same with playing Every Extend Extra Extreme on XBLA, that I have done and my GOD that's fun.

I would seriously love a podcast called 'Black Out Gaming' where it's just 3 guys retelling their week's tales of getting black out drunk and playing games. Your livers would be destroyed but man that'd be awesome!

Trust me, this scenario would not work. All of my drunken gaming stories come back to me second hand, via friends and XBL buddies.
