You guys might be right. Maybe a simple race is the best way to do single game contests. First one to get all achievements/trophies wins. Does that sound better?

Trust me, achievement contests and fun do not go hand and hand. The fun comes in when you commiserate with your fellow contestants on shared trials and tribulations.

I prefer the least amount of achievements idea to the first one to 100% wins idea. I pre-ordered RDR from the Rockstar Warehouse in Ohio, so it'll ship on May 17th (one day before official release)...but because I live so far north I won't receive it until at least 2 weeks later. Most of you guys will probably have it completed by then.

It's your call though...if you guys go with the 100% idea, I am still down for the Geekbox Banditos multiplayer. 8-)

It's a good point that it wouldn't be a fair contest for people that can't get the game the day it comes out.

But if it's who can get the least, then there's still the fact that the people who hardly play will most likely win.

No offense but do you guys really want to limit your playthrough like this? Honestly I couldn't sit on a game like this, carefully watching how many grizzlies I skin.

yeah i know what you mean, i think that seeing as there seems to be quite a high number of ps3 owners that we do a trophie month because someone could just buy it get 1 trophy/acheivment then just stop so idk sounds too unfair i guess

For a trophy competition we'll need to figure out the point value of the trophies because we can't simply go buy level and how many trophies you get. Someone could get 40 bronze trophies and someone else could get 20 gold, who would win?

No hate, I just was suprised so many of you would restrict your first ever playthrough of such an awesome looking game. You have to admit that monitoring a list of dos and don'ts while playing a story the first time through can sandbag the whole experience. What if the game is 25+ hour long? No exploring, no multiplayer, it seems like a waste of $60. But maybe that's something you just can't understand, you dirty, filthy, grizzly loving bastard.

Insofar as I can tell, a gold is worth about 4-5x what a bronze is worth. How do I know this? Because if you get one bronze in a game, your completion increases by about 1%. If you get a gold, it increases by about 5%.

So the guy with 20 gold would win by about a mile.

But as for the other two trophies, I'm not sure.

Why change your game play behavior over achievements at all? Monitoring a list of dos and don'ts is challenging. Which is sort of the point. Racing thorough the game to beat it the quickest would hurt the game play as well. I figure it will play out like the first achievement contest. Only a few people will try to stick to the low achievement road the whole way through. The majority will probably play as normal and avoid any obvious achievements. What I can understand is why a Panda would have so much hate for the grizzly brothers.

here's an addendum on the point about not wanting to hold back for the first playthrough on the compo. if i get a game on launch day, finish it quickly with least achievements do i just sit around and wait for the rest of the month competition before i go off and actual enjoy the game?

i can't wait for the multiplayer posse stuff, lets go rip some grizzlies. *bloodlust*

I would imagine you would only have to sit on the game long enough for your score to be registered.
