Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale

Postby KindGalaxy » Sep 11th, 2010 @ 4:18pm

Bought this on Steam yesterday, and basically lost 10 hours to it without realising it.

You run an item shop to pay off your father's debt from a fairy, buying and selling items that you would normally buy yourself if you were an adventurer in an RPG. Potions, Swords, Shields, Food, rare items, magical items.

It's difficult as hell, it was a Japanese game and just recently translated to English.

You also hire adventurers to go into dungeons, which are randomly generated, but you do get to control the adventurer so it does have an aspect of RPG to it, similar to Zelda's style of hack and slash more than anything else RPG.

It's fucking addictive, I have no idea how I lost 10 hours to it yesterday.

I've heard about this back when it wasn't sure if it was going to come over to English. I was interest then and still am now. It's a great concept, I can't say how many times I've thought about how store keepers get all their wears in RPG's. Usually it's because I leave and go back in and they have more, but still.

How much is this game?

This game sounded cool until it became the game that you were playing instead of joining our TF2 game. So fuck this game!

It's $20 on Steam. It's a hard game though. Very hard, but really fun, like mentioned there is a demo so no harm in trying it; you can get to Level 10 in the demo I believe, of 50 levels (character levels)

I will buy this game if I see it on sale, got too many other games to play now, but it sounds cool.
