3DS Friend Code Exchange?

Postby Coctopus » Mar 28th, 2011 @ 3:07pm

So even though I think only Higgins and I have one at the moment, I figured setting up a thread for friend codes would be good.
Here's mine:5112-3431-4871

Also, I already saw your tweet Ryan and got you registered on my system.

I can only hope this thread gets sloppy with friend codes.

So, when you friend me, it doesn't tell me, nor does it let me friend you, correct?

I think it should tell you as long as you are connected via wifi. I think your indicator light should be going off on the right trigger.

What does exchanging friend codes at this point do? So your Nintendogs can play together?

It certainly makes it easier for that sort of thing to happen now. The friend code is now a system level thing instead of a by game thing. When you register with each other, you are able to see when your friends are online and what they are playing. At this point you can set an extremely short status message and that's about it. Nintendo might expand things with system software updates, but who knows this is Nintendo after all.

So in other words, it serves no actual purpose at this point.

Yeah, nothing too special at this point. Although it is handy to see what your friends are playing if you're interested in some sort of multiplayer. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to start sending messages to people through it as well, but it doesn't do that presently.

I'm interested in some sort of multiplayer... but do multiplayer games worth a damn exist on the 3DS? Do they exist, period?

Right now there's really on Street Fighter that's worth it. I'm sure Mario Kart and Pokemon will have it, who knows what else. I can imagine that the single friend code could make multiplayer an easier and more attractive feature to add, but time will tell on that one.

Correct. You have to swap friend codes. Its not like PSN/XBL where it sends a request. You just add the code. So people pretty much have no idea who has who on their systems as friends. Its supposed to be updated in May though.

All I have is pilotwings right now. Not sure if I want to get SSF4 or not. I already have it on the ps3, but I might pick it up for the 3DS later for the hell of to play during like breaks in class or something.

So I upgraded the ol' DS to a 3DS, Pokemon looks... the same. :)

Anyhoo. My friend code is 4596-9464-9964.

Add me if you'd like to. I'll be playing SMT:Strange Journey and Devil Summoner, you know, 3DS-friendly titles (until DS:Overclocked).

My wife needs friends, she doesn't use many online features in games so this is new to her. I'll add the ones I've seen on this board too.

It doesn't look like this board has a ton of pinball or 3DS fans on it (searching 3DS gives me tons of hits in the "shit that looks like shit" thread, haha), but I'll still give this a shot: who here has bought Zen Pinball on the eShop and needs to flesh out his Friends leaderboards a bit?

Tell me if you add me!
