Guess I'm not the only long-time listener who was finally spurred to join the forums for the sake of this game. I even managed to convince my friends to transfer to Jade Quarry with me just to play with all y'all. Username is geekahedron.8726.
I can appreciate what people are saying about the leveling curve, but it doesn't seem to be a problem for me personally yet. Playing somewhat "normally" while exploring, finishing tasks, and hunting down all the map items with a fair amount of world event participation (I find it hard to walk by an ongoing event and not chip in for a bit) and a modicum of crafting, I'm at level 13 with 80% of my starting area finished. Seems about right. There have been a few times where I found myself in over my head -- like when an event presumably scaled for the twenty people falls directly on my head with no one quite close enough to help -- but overall I can't complain much about my experience with the difficulty curve.
Loving the combat system, finding (after years of WoW and other MMOs) that I really need to be more on my toes for dodges active and blocks or my squishy mesmer is going down pretty quickly. It seems that even with the decreased emphasis on fixed class roles, there is still definitely room for traditional tank/healer/dps party dynamics. The difference is that any class can fulfill any of the roles.
That's all I have to say based on my rather limited playtime so far. I hope to free up some more time to spend on the game in the coming weeks, and to see you guys around!
