Higgins, I propose this question to you: Why pick other heroes when you have D.Va??? She's amazing. I don't know why some people here poop on her. There are a few times where she's not ideal for some context, but she's a crazy good all around hero. She wallops on heroes close-range, she has the beef and multiple abilities that let her close that range, excellent mobility so you can avoid shitty situations, and if she dies she basically has a second life. And she's secretly amazing out of her mech too, because her gun has excellent range, pin-point accuracy, and hits really really hard. There are times I've done strafing outside a door, just shot a continuous stream of bullets inside, and eventually killed people who popped their heads out that way. Or times where a bastion gets set up, and I poke my head out just enough to see his foot but he can't see me, and then I send a full clip at that food and poof - bastion is dead and can't figure out how until his deathcam. There's been plenty of times where I could have called down a new mech and put it off for quite a while because "nah, I'd rather keep going at dudes long range". I do think she's kinda shitty at escort/payload missions, but that's about it. And even then, charging up and using her ult at the right time, even if you don't kill anyone, can create enough space for your team to push that cart (or stop it) just enough to get it over a checkpoint. And she's *very* misplaced as a 'tank' IMO (she's more an attacker) but if you pocket her defense matrix instead of using it offensively, it can save your whole team from a wipe if you time it right against some of the most devastating room-clearing ults in the game (like mccree's, pharah's, reaper's, bastion's, etc). In short, D.Va is bae. I've gotten to the point where I can pull gold medals out of my ass with her on a pretty regular basis for offensive things, it's great.

Higgins, you might also like Mei, because she doesn't really require a lot of twitch reflex to be useful to your team, and she's a massive dickhead when it comes to disrupting the enemy team, and she's hard to kill too because of her get-out-of-jail-free card. Mei is the ultimate troll character, it's kind of amazing how good she is.

Yeah Road hog is in my top five of characters. Hes a tank that can self heal, it requires a ton of dps to drop him if your doing the most mundane of dodging incoming damage. His hook is such a good counter to most of the overused characters, Being able to yank a bastion in turret mode from a high up ledge to be pounced upon by your squad is always satisfying, or ripping him momentarily out of his special can save your whole team. Ripping torb away from his turret or pharoh out of the sky will always be a plus, put characters into situations in which they are less then optimal. That hook with shotgun combo will one shot most of the healers and squishy support, a few of the characters have moves that will counter if timed properly so target selection is key when choosing whom to scorpion spear. Lucio can bounce away, mei can ice, mercy can fly to an ally all if timed perfectly. I was having a bad time in a match yesterday pulling someone playing 76, every time time i pulled him the ensuing point plank combat did not go my way. The hook personifies what leads to success in the game, remove someone from their squad of strength into a solo situation against the team at your back. Rinse, repeat.

I agree with everything Kenzo said about Dva, shes my number 1 go to as well. The only thing I would add is that her shield is great, having invulnerability for a few seconds provides so much versatility when approaching combat situations and her boost can get you to pretty much any surface on the map to dig out snipers or turrets.

Kenzo, don't get me wrong, I love her. Her charge/shield/self-destruct is the greatest thing I've ever seen. I'm just curious if random nubs don't know how to flesh out a team if there's other characters I should try

Dva was my fav tank in the closed beta cuz you don't have to rely on team to do shit. She does't add so much to a coordinated team other than her ult tho, but she's still fine.

You say she adds nothing, but there's so many times where we end with a win where I'm walking away with the gold medals for everything but healing; outdoing our attackers in damage and kills and the like. And like I said, she's really good at rooting out Bastions and turrets if you use her right. She's super good all around to the point where she probably needs some nerfing.

I think you are the one person that believes she needs nerfing. In fact, I believe believe Blizzard said she would be looked at for some sort of buff.

I said she doesn't add so much, not that she adds nothing. Lern 2 reed. It's not hard to rack up damage and elims with her ultimate but her in-mech damage is pathetic (even if it makes it super easy to spam her weak ass attacks on every enemy that dies so you're racking up more elims that way too). I've had amazing games with her. It's not so hard. She just not super useful at anything specific over any other tank other than blowing up a point with her ultimate, which isn't a negligible thing. The only other hero with that kind of area denial is Mei whose ultimate doesn't kill outright anybody dumb enough to stand near it and dva can shoot that shit across the map too. She's a good hero.

You can link your bnet account to overwatch on xbone and ps4. Doing so gives you "goodies" you can claim. I can't tell you what those goodies were because by my summation, it gave me nothing. It didn't even link my profile or game history or loot collection. Very disappointing. I also played with a group of friends over xbl party chat, and maaaan is it a fucking bummer when you can't actually talk to your pubs and try to synergize with them ever. One game, we had a useless tjorborn whacking away at his turret in a corner nowhere near the objective we were supposed to be defending, and because of party chat, there was no trying to chat with this guy. I couldn't even flame him out. I like this game, but I really do think as constructed it's antithetical to a console experience.

My normie friends are also hilarious. I got called a noob by default since it was my first time playing with them, yet I had to plead with them over basic things like the merits of having a lucio on the team during a king-of-the-hill match.

I think the goodies are the same things you get out of the Origins edition on PC. A mini-pet in WoW, a hearthstone card back, mercy wings for diablo 3, and Tracer in HotS.

By game history and loot collection, do you mean your PC Overwatch match history and your unlocks there?

Hi. I'm a new player to Overwatch and would like some help playing as I haven't played a FPS since 2010. Any pointers or help with the basics would me appreciated. I like to play Road Hog and Soldier 76. My battlenet id is the same as my username.

Hey that doesn't really help since in order for anybody to invite you they need to have your full ID including the #numbers after it.

Come hang out in the discord server and see if anybody wants to play.

We have games every sunday evening scheduled but you can catch some people to play during the week.

If you're soldier try to hang back and stay by your team tank. You're team will really appreciate it if you drop your healing circle as much as possible. Make sure you always target enemy Pharas (as soldier is her counter). Beware of Genji and his reflect.

Roadhog is great againt stationery Bastions. Make sure you master the timing on hook/headshot so you can kill all the squishy characters. Try not to tank too much becauase even if you don't die, you'll charge enemy ultimates quicker

Biggest advice is SWITCH characters if things aren't working. This isn't a moba or fighting game where you're locked into the character you start with. Don't be that guy who refuses to try something else.

Got korax to play in game night. Eventually we'll get all the old TF2 people back.

We did in all Roadhog game and it just so happened that the other team was trying all D.Va. We won.

I wish I would have captured that play of the game I had as Tracer where I was just zipping around shooting things and then SnakeDude literally came in and murdered the entire team and yet the game still gave me play of the game.

Been kind of surprised with the sheer quantity of people that have been showing up for game nights lately and all the Ryan Scott we've been seeing. Overwatch is finally making good on the promises of TF2. I still think it could use more expansive lobby options/population limit. I fear that if/when Bliz ever ups the player count above 12 the game night luster will have worn off.

I hope they make it more than 6 v 6 soon, I logged on but saw that it was full. I do miss the 25 we used to have in TF2.

The lobby can hold 18 people. After every game it randomizes the teams so people take turns spectating.
