Awesome interview with Kaplan where he talks a lot about his old EverQuest days. The man is truly after my own heart.

Also there was another beta wave today, but I'm sure nobody actually got in, so whatever.

Is everyone going to do the pre-order on Amazon for beta codes then cancel order thing?

Dunno about anybody else but I'm just buying it. Preordering only gets you an extra 2 days of beta. If you care that much about trying it before you pick it up you can just wait and play the regular open beta for free.

The beta this weekend isn't attached to the open beta at all. It's another invite only closed beta stress test so hopefully some people get in and can try it out sooner.

Also, it only runs through Saturday.

I got in.

Going to have to milk these 36 hours for all they are worth (especially since I have to work through 8 of them). If I enjoy it I'll preorder, if not then I guess 36 hours is it for me.

Game's real fun. I guess if I'm going to pre-order it, I should do so from Best Buy, as I don't believe Amazon has any exclusive pre-order content.

The good thing about getting the origins edition through best buy or amazon as opposed to battenet is it will be 20% cheaper.

Played some pubs. Was on defense on Route 66, and my team picked two widowmakers and two bastions. We ended losing with only 4 seconds to go.

I'm actually enjoying this quite a bit and am a little bummed I've only got a day of playtime between now and the open beta to try it out. Only thing I wish for was a little more vertical gameplay. Some heroes have it (like Widowmaker) but it would be nice for more heroes to have it. Having Tracer's jump ability work in three dimensions would be amazing. Though she's still my favorite to play as even without that.

I was telling the guys yesterday, the 3 maps you weekend noobs have access to are some of the least vertical maps in the game. Almost all the other maps have more interesting verticality to them. I can't wait for you pests to be gone so I can start playing on good maps again.

This will be the third game I've ever pre-ordered. It's also the first game I've ever bought any sort of special edition (or in this case the Origin Edition) for.

I'm loving every minute of it, even if I only ever play Tracer.

Hell, I even played Tracer on defense.

I just have too much fun with high-movement classes in games, and Tracer is one of the best I've played. I tried other heroes but I always found myself going back to Tracer after my first death because I just didn't enjoy them nearly as much.

Tracer is easily one of my favorite heroes in the game. But you should still play some of the other heroes. Most of the heroes are situational and great in certain maps or vs. certain other heroes but you're really, really a detriment to your team in Overwatch if you play one and only one hero. A lot of the other heroes are just as fun as Tracer too but in totally different ways. Just playing one hero forever is a good way to cheat yourself out of enjoying the game or making yourself an easy target to counterpicking, causing your team to lose.

This weekend beta, as well as the time I spent playing Battleborn, made me want to go so fucking HAM on this game again but I still don't want to sink any substantial time in until it comes out so I can save my progression and not burn out playing solo queue with dumbshits. Damn it why can't this just come out early? Aside from the lingering balance issues, spotty matchmaking and mountains of sever instability issues (as demonstrated during this stress test) it's fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine. Come on Bliz, make with the videogames already...

Does it have private matches in yet? If we're going to play this for game night we'll probably fill up both teams.

You mean when it comes out, right? Because the stress test is over and we're now back to Liquid being the only person able to play this until Open Beta.

But yes, I saw a button for custom games in the menu. Didn't click on it to see any options, but it's available.

It has custom/private games. It also has a TON of fucking options you can fuck with to make crazy match types. Some of the options are displayed in the weekly brawls, which feature predetermined rulesets by the developers. They aren't balanced games, just dumb fun.

I'm going to be posting an announcement on the steam group this week sometime regarding Overwatch game nights. Since it is not a steam game I am going to need to post some of your battle.net IDs so people will be able to play with us. Those of you that are cool with me giving out your battle.net IDs let me know.

Make a google doc and have the discord link included. I'm sure whoever ends up showing up to play will organically just get a bunch of ppl in their friend list.
