Director and Scenario – Kotaro Uchikoshi
Character Designer: Rui Tomono
Sound: Shinji Hosoe
The story is set about one year after 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors in December, 2028. On December 31, 2028, at the Nevada desert experimentation facility Dcom, community life began, and nine days after, [redcated].

Development is 80 percent complete.

There are three teams. The leader of each team is the protagonist. The three protagonists know nothing of previous events and will learn through dialogue and such.

Team C

Carlos (voiced by Tomokazu Sugita) – A hot-blooded man with a strong sense of justice doting on his younger sister, who has an incurable disease.
Junpei (voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki) – After the events of the first game, he joined a detective agency in order pursue Akane, who disappeared. He is currently a runaway.
Akane (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro) – She appears to be a neat and clean woman, but she actually specializes in trickery.

Team D

Diana (voiced by Mamiko Noto) – A pacifist who doesn’t like fighting, normally a nurse.
Sigma (voiced by Daisuke Ono) – He is only 22 years-old, but he has walked a complex and bizarre life. Phi will occasionally call him an old man.
Phi (voiced by Chiaki Omigawa) – A blunt woman. In order to save the world, she participates in the Dcom experiment.

Team Q

Q (voiced by Aki Toyosaki) – A boy who lost his memory and wears a strange, spherical helmet that looks almost like a pig’s face.
Eric (voiced by Akira Ishida) – A young man who works at an ice cream shop and is dating Mira.
Mira (voiced by Maaya Sakamoto) – A sexily-shaped woman who is dating Eric.

Other

Zero (???) – An unidentified character who wears a black mask. He is the ringleader of the death game, but his purpose is a mystery.
Gab – An old dog who can fit through air vents people can’t travel through as to move about different areas.

The story is set 1 year after 999 yet Jenn pointed out that Junpei looks like, 10 years older. It does kinda look like he fell in a sewer, what gives? Is he like Ben Affleck Batman and super cereal now?

I guess he does sound like a private eye/homeless now

The forums are so much more pleasant experience when LiQuid is on your foe-list. :D

@Rodney - Dude's seen some things.

Honestly, he doesn't look older to me IMO. It's just a different art style.

My head is actually spinning thinking about this game. Akane and Junpei are getting shoved into the same room with Brother/a close/who knows. Does Junpei resent her yet? Are they going to have to act coldly towards each other, as to try and mislead this guy? What kind of tricks does Akane have up her sleeve?

Sigma and Phi in the same room too. Oh boy. We know this Sigma is from the future. Will Phi be time traveling as well? Seems like every group has a couple, with an X factor thrown in to split them up, and we get to play the X-factor. This is gon be cray. I'm also not looking forward to the inevitability of all these couples being forced to probably kill each other. Remember this key art?

Image

I'm kinda terrified of this game now. The puzzles are going to be Saw-puzzles, and all my favorite characters are gonna have to hurt each other to save the world. This suuuucccckkksssssss. Sigma is definitely gonna get his hands hacksawed off by Phi, isn't he? D:

Also, Re: voice talents

Maaya Sakamoto is a pretty decent voice actress, but she's a really good singer.

Top notch vocal talent.

Apparently they're saying this game is ~80% complete already? I really didn't think they'd be almost finished with it, considering Aksys is kinda quiet about an actual release date.

The forums are so moribund, I doubt even our great patron Master Higgins bothers to check them more than once a week anymore. I post something maybe once a week these days as well.

To solve your problems Jenn, you should just add LiQuid to your foe-list! It hides all his dumb posts. That way his bullshit doesn't clog things up. And if you ever get curious to see if he says something that isn't a shitpost, you don't even get mad at him when it is, because it's like, "I dunno what I was expecting ."

VNs probably don't take much to develop. Mechanically they're very simple, it's just a matter of making all the assets to throw in them versus any kind of arduous Q/A process or trying to tweak game physics/gameplay so things play perfectly. Most doujin games are VNs because you can make one w/ a small number of people easily. The game has been in development for at least a year, so that news wasn't particularly surprising to me. Translation will take a while tho, because that's a hard process.

Something I thought was neat tho, in past Q&As was that Uchikoshi - the writer - was very hands-on with the translation. Lots of bigger companies like Square, back in the day, the side doing translation in NA would basically have to translate things blind and barely talked to the Japanese side. But apparently the translators constantly email Uchikoshi back and forth to get clarifications and feedback on what his intent with dialog lines and such, and it really shows considering the script is really good and doesn't feel like much is lost in translation.

Master Higgins is pretty much the only mod and the forum rules haven't been too enforced for over 4 years now. For example, there has been several people have broken rule #2 by talking about piracy or encouraging it and not been punished and there are a number of threads specifically in the Games board that break rule #4.

Which is probably also a result of the forums being super dead about a year and a half after their initial creation (back in March 2009) and most people just reporting spambots after that point.

There's a series of not-so-cryptic tweets that imply that 999 will be getting vita/PC ports!

I dunno how the gimmick would work on these platforms, but I'll replay it all the same!

I preordered this game on Amazon. Partially because of their price reduction on new games for Prime. But mostly because the page advertises the whole "Prime members save on new release games and get free release day delivery." I got an email yesterday evening, the day before launch, that Amazon updated my shipping estimate, and that it would be Thursday. Thursday!

So I launched a customer service support chat and grilled Vishnu. Dude gave me a line about how the release day shipping is dependent on how far away their fulfillment center is from me (I live literally 30 miles from one) and when they get their product in from the distributor. But like, come on Amazon. It should be your impetus to fulfill your side of the bargain here. It's 11am on launch day and they still haven't even begun the whole shipping process yet for my order. I find it hard to believe that Amazon of all places hasn't gotten their copies of the game in yet to ship out early versus say, some piece of shit place like Gamestop. I got Vishnu to up my 2-day shipping to next day, but this is just stupid. I would have just walked around the corner to the local gaming shop to pick the game up right now had I known this would be the outcome when I preordered instead of wait forever.

And I know this is the epitome of first world problems, but fuck that shit. I'm payan Amazon good money for them to not fulfill their side of the bargain? And I've waited like 4 years for this game. Fuck me if I'm waiting another day more than I have to.

>be me
>ZTD just came in mail
>see rodney on steam playing game
>get inordinate levels of hype
>msg rodney to get hype, see how he likes the steam version and how it looks
>rodney immediately either logs off steam or blocks me
>get cucked

I dunno if I should be laughing, or furious, or profoundly sad that Rodney thinks for even a second that I would spoil him on this game.

Amazon sent me $10 gift credit for not getting my game on time, so that's a slight bit of comfort I guess. :?
