We've finally got our online storefront activated! Check us out on The Retailer Place. This is mail order, and you can order trade paperbacks, DVDs, CDs, books, and other merchandise. We'd still love to take your orders through the physical storefront as well, but this is an option for people to use, especially for items we don't normally carry like DVDs. The discounts aren't quite as good as something like Amazon still, however the store does get a nice kickback, and it continues to support both the store and the podcast.

What platforms does the comixology app work on. I may not always have this iPad and was wondering if they have browser based support? I don't want loose access to my collection if I move on from my current platform.

Yeah, you can read them in your browser. You can test out the browser with some of the free preview issues available in the store.

I personally really hate the browser. Much prefer just using a dedicated comic reader. Maybe it's better on the ipad, but I doubt it.

Yep, the files are all account-based, so you can read them on anything.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've been having a pretty pleasant experience buying though the storefront and then accessing the Comics through my iPad and Windows 7 phone.

Don't think the comixolgy link works anymore. Tried to use it to give you some money. Just goes to a blank page.

Comixology is still working out some bugs, it's down from time to time. I really hope the new version fixes a lot of the current problems.

How come nobody has a problem with the comics on Comixology being proprietary? This is essentially DRM on jpgs. It also traps you into using their awful viewing app, where something (at least on a PC) like a standard image viewer or a comic book reader works so much better.

Oh, ok good. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's a bad practice. Don't get me wrong, I really love the idea. I would love it even more if I had my own iPad. Though I have a big problem with both the proprietary format and the pricing structure.

Comixology seems to be getting a lot of support from the comic community though (the comic thread on GAF is dedicated to it), but I don't know if supporting it as it is now will ultimately help or hurt consumers. Like, will people supporting digital comics as they are now set a precedent that it's ok to charge full price for proprietary digital goods?

Man, Marvel never brings the prices down on their digital comics do they. As of right now I can buy two DC books for every Marvel book (if the DC book isn't the newest issue).

I really want to check out some Marvel stuff but reading DC is just more affordable coming from a guy who has just recently started comics with the New 52.

That's odd.

Action Comics and Justice League don't seem to have the same pricing model as the other books I've been reading.

Stuff like Red Hood and Batman usually drops a buck after a newer issue comes out but those books are all still 2.99 each.

That's because Action and JL start out at 3.99 because they have backups. $2.99 is a buck less for them.

A backup feature. Another ~8 page story in the back of the book in addition to the main 20 page main story.
