ceroxide wrote:I was looking through my comic book collection couple of days ago and ran into Battle Chasers and decided to give it another read since its been so long, and surprisingly I really enjoyed it. There's just something about Joe Mad's style of drawing. Unfortunately the series got canceled and I have yet to find a series that has a similar art style and centers on sword and sorcery.
So now I'm wondering any recommendations for a sword and sorcery comic with an art style similar to that of Joe Mad, Humberto Ramos, Alvin Lee, Terry Dodson, Ale Garza, or Sean Parsons? Also I'm tired of being made fun of so if the main is female that be a huge plus, all my comics are of hulkish men kicking ass and I'm tired of the looks I been getting :/

Ah dude, do I have a book for you! Might have to do some diggin' though, but I think you gonna love this one (I sure did).
Ale Garza - check!
Sword and Sorcery - check!
Female Lead - check check! (plus she's got some nice knockers!)
I present you: Ale Garza's Skye Runner!
It's fantasy book with probably some of Ale's best work ever! Sadly he did fall off a bit in the later issues, but its a fun fantasy book. If I remember right it was just 6 issues, and probably never been collected. (Wildstorm/DC was the publisher.)
I think I once read it was set in the same world as Ninja Boy, another Ale Garza book.
I personally really really liked Skye Runner, even purchased many of the original pages. My only gripe was that is doesn't seem Ale cared in the end which is a damn shame. To which I damn hope that Eddie Nunez will be able to do his own book one day, with the artists you mentioned, you'll love Eddie! And he's super cool if you ever meet him at a convention.
Not sure if you'd be interested in this but either its coming out or its already out, Humberto is doing some fairy tale book which looks really good too.
Also this another crate digging project, there was once a horrible horrible publisher by the name of Dreamwave that did a book called Warlands, which had some good art, but I think the story went nowhere or it was pretty weak. I stopped caring for it pretty fast, not only did they take the name I wanted for my own projects, but Pat Lee who is best forgotten in the comicbook world.
