I'm really surprised that you're the first to post impressions and not Jinpei.

I really liked these first two episodes! Why can't all white-people cartoons be this good??

I liked it too. I'm interested in how Panthero will join the group.

Marvel Anime from last night is still on my DVR, anyone see that yet?

Cause it was made by yellow people?

But it really wasn't. It was produced, written, and directed by white people. Studio 4C just did all the grunt-work of the actual drawings.

Nice to see Will Friedle still getting work and pulling off the whole teen-being-thrust-into-uncertain-territory routine he perfected as Terry McGuinness in Batman Beyond.

I knew his voice sounded familiar!

You never mentioned if you liked the first episode or not, Jinpei.

It was solid. Michael Jelenic is a writer/producer of rising status. Having the previous series as a nebulous history of this one is an interesting take. And a sibling rivalry between Tigra and Lion-O is a cool twist, as is a possible love triangle with Cheetara.

What worries me is the time slot. The He-Man reboot was also doomed to a Friday air time and ended up getting prematurely cancelled.

Yeah, that shit guarantees even lower viewership numbers. Well the torrenting does, anyway.

I got the feeling this is what they were going for, but wasn't quite sure. I don't remember anything from the original show (I used to watch it when I was like, 5 basically) except a few catch-phrases and the feeling that some of the names being said were kind of familiar.

Definitely a better episode than last week's. I don't like how Panthro showed up at the end though. That shit came out of nowhere. And I like how the moral of the story was, "who gives a fuck, let's just do whatever the hell we feel like."

I liked his entrance. Needed something big to happen... I figured Liono would know him though.

Not exactly what the lesson was, but whatever.

Hope this week's episode is all Panthro!

Good episode. Like seeing Panthro's friendship with Grun being explored, right up until his betrayal.

Once again, Panthro's ethnicity is strongly implied to be black, thanks to great voice work by Kevin Michael Richardson.

Looking forward to Mummra's full transformation this week!

Well, he is a black panther... but I think applying American concepts of human race onto anthropomorphic cats from outer space is kind of a silly thing to do.

The only thing I could focus on was why Panthro had a tail when he was younger and why he doesn't have one now.

I'm gonna guess it has to do with why he has two functional eyes when he was younger and why he doesn't have one now... you know, war.

Finally caught up. Good episode showcasing each member of the team's special skills. Mumm-Ra's full transformation was pretty cool.

 -ing at the borderline racist commentary made by the episode, i.e.,
Spoiler: show
Panthro can't swim.

Pretty cool episode this week. Got a glimpse of the history of this new universe, and it runs a lot deeper than I expected.

Still snickering at their nods to TigerSharks and SilverHawks being part of this universe.

Looks like the B-team at Studio 4 Degrees handled this one. And the story was a bit of a throwaway. Hope they get on track for next week.

I liked the kind of one-off story of this week. And I didn't think the animation was really all that bad either - though it is a pretty common animating trick to backload all the fancy animation into key segments for the sake of budget. But the story wasn't completely throwaway - at least Lion-O learned a lesson this week.

I'm fine with this just being Lion-O's story, and everyone else being backups/cheerleaders.

Lame. If they go multiple season, then I'll let Lion-O have the spotlight this season, and let the rest have theirs, like they did in Teen Titans.
