Hawaii FIVE-O

Postby ATC 1982 » Sep 24th, 2010 @ 4:20am

I finally caught up on Tivo last night and this was the last show for me to watch. Decent start to get to know the Main Characters and villains. I think it is a good show for CBS, but surprised it is on 10 pm ... guess they were scared of Chuck ...

The pilot was okay. I'm willing to give the show a chance, but it seems almost like a more violent Burn Notice. I thought the bad guy of the pilot was going to be the bad guy for the entire first season. Like he's stuck on the islands for the first season and the team is hunting him and foiling his escapes until one big show down at the end of the season. Instead he's killed off in the pilot. Now what's keeping the main character around? I guess we'll find out next week.

I really want to watch this soon, it's on my list. Grace Park is in it, I'd lick the makeup off of her face. And Daniel Dae Kim, the dude basically lives on Hawaii now after Lost.

Not so much. No one is scared of Chuck's ratings except the people that make Chuck who are worried about getting additional episodes or another season. Ten pm is exactly where a show like Hawaii 5-0 should be scheduled. And besides, CBS already has an established comedy block from 8-10, and they weren't going to break that up.

I move that the title of the thread be changed to the show's actual title: "Hawaii Five-O".

Also, they traced that phone call to inside the Honolulu PD HQ, so there's also massive corruption that's gonna need sorting. There's plenty of possibilities for plot, and if there isn't, they can just turn the show into Dog the Bounty Hunter with pretty people in it.

And why does that matter to McGarrett? If they kept this original bad guy around for the first season McGarrett could become invested in his team and the police force or whatever else to keep him on the island. But now that the guy he sought vengeance on is dead, what's his reason for sticking around? I mean, I guess we'll see next week what keeps him around.

I suppose he could stick around just because the Mayor or Governor gave him free reign, which, granted, would probably be a lot more fun than being in the military.

And why does that matter to McGarrett?

McGarrett's dad left him with cryptic last words which lead him to the toolbox where he found that random key and the micro cassette recorder; think he might want to follow up on that? And what about Chin Ho? He was ousted from the force on a bogus corruption charge; wanna bet that ties into the overall corruption in the Honolulu PD? I think they've got some through storylines they can follow for the remainder of the season.

Finally watched it. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't extraordinary either. Guess I'll give it a few more episodes to see where things go. And to see Grace Park, of course. ;)

OMFSM, you were serious? I thought that was a joke and then I watched this week's episode and that's exactly what happened.

The show seems to have held up this week so that's good.

And if he were shot in the arm or leg or something, sure, but wasn't he shot in the chest before falling into the water? I mean, that seems kind of hard to swim away from.

This week's episode was at least up to par with the pilot. I will keep watching, but mostly because Brother and Sistah are on the show.

I'm pretty sure McGarrett emptied a full clip into his chest before he fell into the water. So yeah, he's definitely still alive.

Finally watching this week's episode. I'm about half-way through and it's great. I fucking love this show. Easily the best new show of the year.

I agree with you Kenzo about this being the next good show this season or at least must watch. I wonder how the
Spoiler: show
big fat guy will now treat his cuz in the later episodes.
then again
Spoiler: show
he may quit the force for stepping up against the true dirty cops and get canned off the force

Big fat cousin will show up periodically to help them out when they need something. He will also come back for at least one episode, asking the guys to help him clean house in HPD HQ, in order to root out corruption. Count it.

To me, the human drama element felt a bit forced. I dunno, watch for yourself and report back.

I guess. It was just a downer since the previous three eps were pretty good.

The main character is the guy from Oceans 11 right? This show is ok, and it is growing on me. I like how they show that crime does happen in Hawaii. Basically hawaiians hate mainlanders right?

I watched the episode where someone's uncle gets shot at a football game. Was that the pilot or the 2nd epi?

So what? How is that any different than any TV show, film, commercial, and magazine ad in existence that glamorizes California as a land that's only palm trees, beaches, and models/actors?
