If there was anything I could take away from this film it was that Nolan really made me love Bruce Wayne as a character for the first time. Bruce Wayne was always an origin character who transformed into Batman, similar to John Osterman with Doctor Manhattan. Although Bruce was around, he in his mind was always Batman.

Many times in this movie it is in fact Bruce Wayne who faces and makes the tough decisions, he is the one who rebuilds himself and rises back up to triumph. Too often was he the man who had a company that supported his crime fighting, and too often was he the plain clothes detective looking at finger prints. When all of those resources and abilities were no longer available, it was either put up or shut up for him and boy did he come back with a deeper sense of internal good and righteousness.

Nolan broke him down physically and emotionally like no other super hero on film, which made the comeback all the much more sweeter.
You call this here, and that down there family?

HA!
Inspired by Ryan's meme post, here's my take on that same scene.

Horrible horrible joke. He quit *being Batman* because he wasn't needed anymore; as soon as a real threat to Gotham came along, he suited up again without a moment's hesitation. Also, I'd say becoming a recluse is a lot healthier way to deal with your sadness versus slaughtering scores of younglings and becoming the lap-dog for an interstellar genocidal tyrant.

Totally missed this the first time around.

It certainly gives the Lazarus pit theory more credence.

It's a pretty generic pose.

Agreed, though the negative space surrounding the two characters is remarkably similar, even for a generic pose.

I was going to say the same thing, and even began to dig up lots of similar pictures of women in that pose, but decided to go a different direction with my joke.

I just watched the film.

Despite they already used a couple of secret identity revelations in the film and despite the fact there might not come continuation to this particular trilogy and the fact the name of the little man in black suit dropping through the ice was Stryver instead of Cobblepot I can't get it from my mind that the next character rising (from the hole in the ice in this case) would be a bird that can't fly.

Sorry for being unintelligible.

"Why do we fall sir? So we might learn to pick ourselves up." - A. Pennyworth imdb

So I'll try again:

There was a scene where a man dressed in a black suit fell to cold water through the ice. The image reminded me of Penguin, so I thought they could perhaps make him the next villain if there was another Batman movie. The man in this film was called Stryver, not Cobblepot which is the name Penguin is known in the comics and in the Burton movie. If they ever made such a sequel, they could reveal his real name to be Cobblepot instead of Stryver. They allready revealed a couple of real names of some characters in this movie.

I hope this one is less unintelligible than the previous.

Thanks for the edit. I think your idea is silly, but I don't begrudge the wishful thinking of a fan.

I really hope they don't make a sequel or a psuedo-sequel. Leave the trilogy as it is - it's perfect this way. Throwing in a small-fry baddie like the Penguin also wouldn't make sense in the continually escalating threats that was the Nolan films.

I didn't feel this warranted a new thread, so I'm putting this rumor here:

Apparently (according to "sources," whoever the fuck they are), Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be appearing as Batman in the Justice League movie. Count me as one of the skeptics that a Justice League movie will never actually happen, but Zack Snyder's already confirmed that next year's Man of Steel is part of a larger, cohesive story plan, so hey, what do I know. Maybe DC will actually make this happen.

Is he just going to be "John Blake" then? Because that would be hella dumb. Why does DC hate its continuity so bad?
