Loved the film and yes Magneto was the best part along with seeing the relationship between him and Xavier develop.

I don't think the sequel has earned its own thread yet but its just been confirmed that the title is...

X-Men: Days Of Future Past

via Singer himself...

Viral marketing is still dumb. Maybe dumber now than it ever was back when it was guerrilla marketing.

First Class has a shitton of characters, but it pulled things off. The trick with big casts is to focus in on a core handful of important ones and let the rest kinda just hang out in the background. First Class was all about Prof. X and Magneto. If they can do something similar with this, then it could be good.

God that was melodramatic as all fucking hell. I think Bryan Singer can eat a bunch of fucking shit and this movie is going to be a return to shit for this franchise. But whatever, enjoy fanboys.

Also Sunshine is a piece of fucking garbage too.

That trailer has me somewhat excited, but it was put together by someone who's obviously new at cutting together trailers, especially if that cut at 1:25 is any indication.

Just got back from seeing it. It was pretty damn good.

I liked how they flipped it from First Class where I think this one focused more on Xavier and FC focused more on Magneto. The fight scenes were pretty awesome and
Spoiler: show
quicksilver
was great, One thing I missed from FC though was the musical score. The music in this seemed really bland.

All in all I think I still like FC best of the series but this is probably my #2

So I've been gone for awhile, but I feel like I just need to rant and no one else on the internet seems to be mentioning this.
Spoiler: show
So I guess because of this movie Origins never happened and X1, X2, and X3, just happened differently. Fine I get that I can understand they want to start over.

What bugged me was that Xavier mentioned that the future they are in is 50 years ahead of 1973. If Magneto was born sometime before World War II and was seen as an adolescent in '44, then in the 60's when first class took place he was probably in his mid to late 20's, so in the 70's he was in his mid to late 30's. So in the dystopian future we see that is 50 years after that Magneto, and Xavier, would be in their late 80's. Maybe that's believable, okay. Then take Quicksilver. He wasn't drafted so I'm guessing he is a teenager around 15. So 50 years from then he would be 65. We don't see him in the future right, so whatever. Then take Alex summers. He was at least 18 since he was drafted into Vietnam, so 50 years from then he would be around 68. We don't see him in the future either, but he is the younger brother of Scott Summers. So maybe they decided to redo that bit of family history, okay. In First Class Xavier is looking through Cerebro and finds a boy exactly like Scott. He looked to be in elementary school so lets give him 10. 50 years in the future he would be 60. Clearly James Marsden did not look like an old man Cyclops. Maybe that was a different kid with exactly the same powers as Scott, alright. In that same sequence Xavier finds a girl in Egypt with the power to control weather. She looked to be about 13, so 50 years in the future Storm would have been 63. Maybe that was a different kid too, but that seems like a lot of coincidences.

Not to mention the fact that Toad is in this movie and X1, seemingly not aged at all.

It wasn't as good as First Class but it was pretty good. The Quicksilver scene was the best scene in the movie.

X Men First Class

Postby LindaReamn » Feb 16th, 2018 @ 2:26pm

So me and my GF were bored yesterday and randomly decided to see a movie. I really wish it would have been any other movie besides X-Men: Apocalypse. The best way to describe the movie is unsatisfying. Though it isnt as bad as BvS, it does have one very similar problem. The movie tries way to hard to introduce too many characters and it just ends up mudding up the story. So here is the good, bad, and awful.

Good:
Magneto: This is the one character that seems to be consistently well done throughout all of the X-Men movies. They always spend time to develop his character just a little more each time. His constant internal conflict between helping his mutant friends and hating a world that rejects him is well done. Fassbender and McCavoy have very good chemistry and it shows.

Quicksilver: It was nice to see a more expanded role for Quicksilver after he only had a few scenes in previous movies. His character adds levity and has some of the most visually well done special effects. Evan Peters is also a critically underrated actor. His work on American Horror Story is great and I would expect to see him get bigger roles sooner rather than later.

Professor X: If I had a middle ground between good and bad that is where I would put Professor X, but I dont so I lean more towards good and that it mostly because of James McAvoys acting. McAvoy did the best he could with the bad dialogue that plagued this movie.

Wolverine: I could watch Wolverine go berserker for 2 hours and be happy. That was the case here and it was fantastic. He was only in the movie for a short time, but it was fun to watch and should set up Hugh Jackmans swan song in Wolverine III.

Bad:
Apocalypse: They tried so hard to make Apocalypse seems all powerful and menacing, but it fell so flat. The voice was the first problem. It was more annoying than menacing. The second problem was how horribly crafted his powers were. He turned an entire warehouse worth of people into dust, but couldnt figure out a way to defeat a few X-Men. Even his power to enhance his horseman was written badly. An enhanced Angel got beat easily by just Nightcrawler and an enhanced Psylocke got beat by just Beast. It also doesnt help that Apocalypse just didnt look intimidating at all. He wasnt very tall, he wasnt big, and he make up was atrocious.

Mystique/Raven: Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress, but Mystiques time on screen just wasnt doing it for me. There just hasnt been that much development of her character since First Class.

The time in the government facility: This whole section of the movie could have been cut out and it wouldnt have changed a thing. Besides introducing Wolverine and the post credit scene, it was just filler. The escaped X-Men just happen to find a fully functional jet that Beast knows how to pilot and jumpsuits that fit every person. I mean come on now.

Awful:
Dialogue: Lord help me the dialogue was terrible. There was such an attempt to beat you over the head with forced dialogue that it was downright grating. Check out how cheesy this dialogue is:

"Alex Bring the Havok" - Clearly referencing his nickname "Havok"
"Who is that guy? He seems like some sort of animal" - Talking about Wolverine
"Forget everything you think you know, youre not students anymore Youre X-Men" - Raven
"The world needs the X-Men." - Beast "Thats why Im here. To fight" - Raven
"I am no hero" - Raven "You are a hero to us" - Rest of young X-men
"I hope we never see him again" - Cyclops talking about Wolverine

Jean Gray - I want to be fair to Sophie Turner. I just dont think this was the right part for her. She couldnt quite get the accent right and her dialogue was as bad as anyones. The fact that she destroyed Apocalypse with one Phoenix moment didnt help matters. It really killed the whole point of Apocalypse being the strongest mutant ever and kind of jumped the shark on her character.

Psylocke: She might as well have not been in the movie at all. She had barely any dialogue and didnt exactly fair well in her fights scenes.
