American Horror Story

Postby RetroBob » Oct 10th, 2011 @ 3:16pm

Ok after a quick search I could not find another thread mentioning this, so started one...

I just got through watching the pilot episode and thought it was ace, so much happened that other shows would have dragged out over time. It's a bit like The Amityville Horror had sex with Event Horizon. Has a LOT of potential, definitely one to stick with.

Spoiler: show
The nanny, the weird neighbour, what the hell happened with that bitch girl in the basement - WTF!!

Anyone else seen this? What did you think?

I watched it... It was fucked up... but in a good way?
I'm very interested to see where they go with this show and how they turn the idea of a singular haunted house into an entire season of a show.
At least check out the 'theme song' I tried to find a video of it... so random....
Prepare for trouble...

Just watched the pilot cause ten million shows aren't enough to keep me busy on a weekly basis.

I dunno, I don't really like horror movies at all, but this totally seems like one of those. I'm surprised a show like this hasn't existed until now with as popular as shitty horror movies are. I might watch another episode or two to see if this gets any funnier, but so far it seems pretty bland. Hopefully they will show more of the little midget creature that attacked the bitchy teen in the basement.

Holy shit, forget what I said up there, this show is a gift from god!!! That first episode is super dumb but also super deceptive. I thought this show was going to attempt at actually being "horrifying," and that couldn't be farther from the truth! This show is like a legit spiritual successor to Nip/Tuck, only it doesn't even try to ground itself in reality. This show is just fucking bananas, retardation and madness at a breakneck clip! This is a damn near True Bloodian take on genre horror. This show is, amazing. Oh man I love this show. Oh man.

I've watched a bit of every episode over my girlfriend's shoulder. It's fucking weird, but not in a good way? I don't know what to make of it. I can't tell if it's campy or what.

I watched the first episode and it was just weird for the sake of being weird and that was all. Does it get better after the first episode or if I didn't care for the first ep should I not bother?

The first episode isn't really indicative of the rest of the show. It's really not a scary show at all and doesn't really try to be. It's an absurd sex drama like Nip Tuck was. And yeah it is pretty much weird just for the sake of being weird, but that's why it's so stupid (and awesome).

Most hilarious show in the history of television. This is honest to god, no hyperbole my favorite show on the air right now.

I wish I could do the entire 5 minute school shooting intro too but it really doesn't work without the hilarious acting and dialog anyways. Just watch the fucking show! It's so amazing!

Just started watching this show after mrstotoro watched the pilot episode last night. It's pretty fucked up. Like a bad wreck - I don't want to stare directly at it, but yet I can't look away.

Dude, it's not fucked up. Stop being so sensitive to bullshit. It's amazing and hilarious, but not even close to fucked up.

I envy your having not watched the rest of the show though cause I totally wish I could see it all again for the first time!

About to start the 7th episode. It's just so weird and somewhat disconnected like they're trying to out-David-Lynch everything else on basic cable.

Finale of this was almost as perfect as any season finale I've ever seen. One part of me wants it to have ended after the hispanics got haunted off the premises since that scene was the most perfect scene of this entire series. A final shot with the family standing on the lawn with the ghost posse behind them standing in a victory pose would make a perfect alternate ending. Though I do understand the need for closure for the main family and I like the payoff of Antichrist kid and the maid.

Even though I guffaw at all the ridiculousness of it, this show was really damn good and pulled no punches. More people should watch it.

Croatoan! I really like hearing different inventive theories about what happened with Roanoke, even though I know they aren't seriously suggesting that's what happened.

I definitely agree that they could have ended the series with them chasing the family out of the house. I'm starting to wonder if maybe they'll have a new location/home every season. That would keep the whole thing seeming fresh year after year. Plus I highly doubt the leads in the series will be very interested in staying on if they're not the ones who are getting the majority of the screen time.

Well, it looks like no more Murder House for season 2 -- or Los Angeles for that matter.
