Doctor Who Season 7

Postby kenzo » Dec 15th, 2011 @ 4:41pm

I take it a lot of you have soured on Doctor Who lately, since I'm the one who has to make this thread. The X-Mas special is mere days away, and while it isn't exactly season (or series) 7, it isn't quite season 6 either. Previews look good so far!

I'd already said goodbye to them multiple times last season. I love those two to death, but they need to move on ASAP.

I plan on watching every Christmas special on Christmas. I'm going to try to get some family members to watch as well but I'm not holding my breath. It seems like no one is willing to give it a chance.

RTD era ones were awful, but Moffat's first last year was AWESOME. So, QC on this. Plus, Bill Bailey.

This includes Space Titanic, which IMO is the worst one.

While it's always great to see The Doctor on screen again, I couldn't help but feel like this year's Christmas special was a bit half assed. Or maybe it's just because I loved last year's so much. I was also sort of hoping that the special would restore what good faith I had left after the last season.

Now, I'm a little worried over how Sherlock's return is going to go.

It wasn't as good as the last X-Mas special, but it wasn't a bad episode by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I ended up liking it a lot more than most of the previous season. It was simple, and not emo, and fun, and whimsical. Also, there were no Ponds, and I think that helped things for some weird reason. I think I'm over Amy's pouting-face.

Also, when The Doctor was walking around with his helmet on backwards, because of his voice sounded I thought it was Tennant again. :(

The new TV series of Sherlock's been getting rave reviews, so no worries there. I will admit, bit of a dull Xmas special this year, with a big end payoff.

I haven't watched last years Christmas special since last year so maybe I don't remember it being as awesome as you guys do, but I thought this was easily one of the best Christmas episodes...

The doctor saying he couldn't feel like that anymore really hit home his whole lonely broken hearted life. And it was just a quick in the middle of something comment.

Yeah, the Doctor's inability to understand emotion for a bit there was quite telling of how his trials are beginning to weigh on him. Don't forget, he's not too far off the Valeyard...

I'm about half way through this year's X-mas special and so far it is a pretty potent combination of boring and annoying. The tree people just woke up though so maybe they will be interesting. I doubt it.

News across the Twitter machine. From the Official Doctor Who Twitter (@bbcdoctorwho):

Jenna-Louise Coleman announced as the new Doctor Who companion. More to come....

Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Edit: Here's a quick look at what she looks/sounds like (these look like audition tapes for something; she speaking with an American accent in the second video).

There will be 6 episodes this year, including the Xmas Special. Then 8 next year. Jenna's character will first be seen at Xmas.

She's really pretty. I hope her personality isn't so one-dimensional as Amy's ended up being.

Also, LULZ @ the obvious trolling in the last quote.

Won't they just to two split season halves like last year? I don't see the big deal.

Also that chick looks like British Selena Gomez.
