There's absolutely no way that movie isn't completely terrible and completely amazing.

How much Joker do you think will be in it? I'm guessing 10 minutes or less.

Considering the primary casting has already been announced, and we should, by now, know who the villain is, I'm guessing he's the baddie, and we're just getting a live action version of the animated movie from a year or so ago.

I love how Tarantino is just bending Westerns as far as he can. This looks great.

I actually have no idea what that's going to be about. Kinda wish he had changed to a different time period but somehow I always manage to like Terantino movies even if they don't initially look so promising.

I feel so bad for Duncan Jones. He had such a promising career.

If the Orcs were going to look that bad why not just go fully CGI?

In a bit of irony the live-action humans are the worst looking part of that.

Why would anybody want to watch another one of those?

I mean, this one looks like it's dropping the awful found footage bullshit, and it's got John Goodman in it. These 2 things on their own have been the basis for a handful of quality motion pictures. But the name Cloverfield should wield enough heft to keep anybody from anticipating this, right?

First: this probably isn’t a direct sequel to Abrams’ 2008 Godzilla-at-ground-level success, with the producer and Force Awakens director releasing a statement earlier tonight that referred to the new movie as a “blood relative” of Cloverfield (whatever that ambiguous familiar relationship actually means). Also, this almost certainly isn’t a new project, arriving out of the blue; rather, it looks like Abrams’ Bad Robot has changed the name of director Dan Trachtenberg’s Valencia, which Goodman signed on for back in 2014, and which Winstead talked about filming last year. It’s not entirely clear why the name was changed, although people are suggesting Cloverfield might become a sort of anthology franchise for Bad Robot’s periodic turns toward mystery and horror.

So, whatever that means.

Sounds like a whole lot of bullshit. I find it hilarious that they're slapping Cloverfield of all brands on whatever passes thru JJ's discard pile now. I mean I guess it's working if dumbasses like mr ex are already soiling their panties over a movie that has nothing to do with the original.

They should have called it 10 Star Wars Lane. That'd sell some tickets.

The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.

To be honest, since there's literally no way this is worse than Cloverfield the First, I'll say this will probably be watchable for Goodman alone. I need to see some nerd rage over this being nothing like the first one before I decide if I want to watch it.

I read somewhere that Cloverfield is instead going to be like a Twilight Zone-kind of branding for Bad Robot & co. where it's all just different stories. Not sure it's true or not. I'm on the fence about this one - I like Cloverfield, but this one just has JJ producing it -- it's done by other guys I know nothing about. Idk we'll see I guess.

Liquid I thought your New Year's resolution was not to hate on other people's stuff; well that certainly didn't last LOL.

My New Year's Resolution was to not say bad things about people. As in you guys, mostly. It's been open to interpretation. Certainly JJ Fucking Abrams wasn't within its purview. I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of bad things to say about him when I eventually watch Star Wars.
