Redpanda, I know as well as anyone how Kenzo can be a whirlpool of semantic arguments(he finds it fun and if you don't you have to stop the buck quick or you'll have a very annoying evening), but this isn't really one of those cases. He's not calling you racist or trying to trick you. This is just a sensitive topic and your'e far less flippant about it than someone like Cross, who agrees with you 100%, but will only take quick jabs at this to stir shit.
I'm far less eloquent than you or kenzo. For me it starts and stops with representation(which is why Cross was trying to stir shit by not letting us use that word). You can feel bad because you can't relate to these character's new black skin, or you can look past their skin to see what you actually related with the character to begin with, their character. You'll survive.
Now you may say that black people should do the same I told you to do, relate to the character not the skin color. Well they have been, for 60 years and counting. They've survived and so will you. Let these characters reflect their audience.
