Johnny isn't adopted in the new movie. Their dad is ambiguously dark skinned. He's been in the most recent trailer.

Apparently the pilot leaked. Might try to find it when I get home. Hopefully it is as complete a pilot as the Flash's was.

Edit: It was okay. The premise for the monster of the week stuff is super dumb, and it is really hokey how they don't like to day Superman.

I don't see how anyone that likes The Flash could not like this. It's cheesy in all the same ways Flash and Arrow are. The girl power stuff is layered on kind of thick but that was to be expected. They established all the characters as archetype so it may come off as kind of generic but thats just how they make pilots. They'll develop the characters more in the actual show. Action was good, special effects were good, acting was about the same as Flash and Arrow. I enjoyed this episode more than any episode of Gotham or Constantine.

As far as the quality of the leak goes, it's blu-ray quality with all the special effects complete.

You know, the fucking Kryptonians have all these fucking escape pods to get their kids off their dumb planet. How come they don't have a couple for like fucking intelligent sciencebros like Superman's dad so he can actually revive his dumb species.

The TV spots for this are fucking awful. You can tell this is such a CBS show just by watching them. They're cut like CSI commercials. The more I think about it the more I realize CBS is such a terrible fucking network for this show. It might be "America's most watched network" but that's because most TV is watched by half-dead geriatric fucks. This show is so god damned doomed. Remember this post guys cause I'm calling this show doesn't get a season 2.

What if it goes to CW for season 2 and they bring it into the Arrowverse?

Why would that never happen? CW is basically DC the channel at this point and Supergirl is made by the same people that make The Flash and Arrow.

I remember an executive at CW saying they regretted passing on Supergirl (something about needing to get Flash out of the door first), and I know when these shows get canned they sometimes try to shop around for alternative networks (like Constantine did), so Supergirl going to CW for season 2 isn't unrealistic.

This show starts tonight, but anyone that has already watched the pilot needs to wait til next week for new stuff.

Having seen the pilot myself, I really do hope this series gets better. It was decidedly okay, even though the monster-of-the-week premise seems really dumb.

I understand that, but I find the method that they are using to have a monster of the week to be lame. "Oh no, this space prison crashed on Earth and a bunch of space convicts have escaped."

Nobody can find the dude. Plus, they have to trust in Kara to deal with her own stuff. Otherwise Superman should just solve all of her problems for her.

Second episode was much better than expected.

Also, it's not *his* aunt. Kara and Clark are related through their fathers; this is Kara's mother's sister.

I watched the first two episodes of this. This is not a good show. Not necessarily a bad show either, but not good. And I'm endlessly annoyed by the references to Superman like he's fuckin' Lord Voldemort.

I don't believe you watched the second episode if you still think they are trying to avoid saying Superman anymore.

We chatted about it in dischord, but it bares repeating here for people. I know they say Superman a buttload in episode 2, I didn't mean Voldemort in a "he who must not be named!" sense (even though they still spend a lot of time making reference to him without saying his name) but in the sense that he's CONSTANTLY referenced and an integral part of the world and lore, but you'll never fucking see him because he's off in the shadows. It's just weird, especially knowing that we'll never see him because he'll never be allowed to show up in an episode. Like, they talk about how much Superman is looking after Kara and cares about her and wants to give her shit like her cape... WHY NOT JUST FUCKING SHOW UP AND SAY THAT SHIT TO HER FACE! Like, it's fucking Superman! He can fly around the world in the blink of an eye and be anywhere. It's just really distracting.

Quick theory: what are the chances of the commanding officer in the DOE is actually J'onn J'onzz? The mention of his loss of family to aliens and his overall terse dialogue combined with glowing red eyes kind of had me thinking. If this becomes a thing I want credit for spotting it first.

His name is Henshaw. If he's going to become anyone, it's Cyborg Superman.
