Mr. Robot

New thread worthy.

Watch this show. It's about a hacker with social anxiety. It's amazing.

Amazing.

Did anybody watch it yet? That first episode was SO good. This show is going to be this year's True Detective. I can feel it now. You guys are not too late to get in at the start. The 2nd episode airs tomorrow. I can't wait. I need more Netflix style bulk release shows damn it.

I'm really hoping Mr. Robot doesn't turn out to be Tyler Durden. It seems like such an obvious play and I've been watching closely for any evidence either way.

I liked the first episode, but I hate the fight club setup that seems to be likely.

Even if it is just cyberpunk Fight Club that wouldn't really be the end of the world. The main character in this show is so much more fucking rad than Edward Norton.

The antagonist in this show is incredible. He's almost a Cerseian villain, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he needs while using his position and wealth to get what he wants. If they had been just a little more graphic when he was roflstomping that bum this would be like a modern day Game of Thrones. Hell, they even threw in some gay sex and manass! This show is so fucking good I can't even take it.

The fuck you talking about, Slater is probably the best character, which is precisely why it's going to be even more disappointing when it's revealed that he's just a fucking figment of Elliot's imagination. The only really bad character in the show so far is the hacker chick. She's such a fucking cliche, 'tude character she makes me sick whenever she's on screen, especially since she serves absolutely no fucking purpose on the show yet, aside from being Elliot's 2nd in command when it comes out that he's really the leader of fsociety. She's basically this show's Helena Bonham Carter.

People were wondering before this episode if the hacker chick was fake too, as others never really acknowledged her and she was never seen doing anything. But, this episode another character referenced her.

I'm going to be disappointed either way if Mr. Robot is real or not. I don't like him being a figment of Elliot's imagination, as that is a super lame story device. On the other hand, they are making it too obvious that he isn't real, that it would feel like a super asspull that needs some explaining to make him actually be real.

That was a stupid speculation for people to have had. It wouldn't make any sense for the hacker girl (or any of the other lesser members of fsociety for that matter) to not have been real. She doesn't represent anything to the main character the way Mr. Robot represents the portion of his personality that wants to dismantle Ecorp.

There were 2 scenes in ep 3 that made me pretty sure Mr. Robot isn't real. The bartender being annoyed that Elliot ordered an appletini after Mr. Robot already had one, and when Elliot showed up at the arcade at the end and the fsociety members starting doting over him like he was their glorious leader. The hacker chick stalking him to his house also enforces that. She probably feels like fsociety doesn't have any direction now that Elliot helped them achieve a big goal like taking down the CTO and then bailing on the project.

Of course this could all be red herrings, an elaborate fucking ruse, and by season's end they will pull the rug out from under us and Mr. Robot will be a real guy, but like you said, even that would be disappointing in a way because they're making it SO obvious that he's fake, the entire act of them manipulating us into thinking one way or the other could be seen as a kind of betrayal.

This show leveled up hard with episode 4. Best episode of the series so far. The Hackers cameo. The conversation with the Keith David fish. The moonlight cubicle dinner. Flawless from start to finish.

Tyrell Wellick is actually one of the most amazing villains I've seen in anything in years. I'm enjoying watching his development more than anything else in this superb fucking show.

Fuck episode 7 was even realer. Tyrell is like literally American Psycho now.

How come fucking nobody is even watching the best show on television? All you idiots are going to catch up to this once the first season is over and you're gonna be like LIQUID WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG.

Haha, so the big reveal we've been waiting for finally happened but they've mindfucked us so hard there's still actually no way you could intuit all there is to know about these characters even given the information we now have. This would have been the season finale in any other show, and there's still two to go! This show is having more fun fucking with its audience than even Lost ever did and it isn't even making shit up as it goes. What a phenomenal show this is. And still nobody watching it. Stop watching anime you weeb fucks and watch some quality programming for a change.

I honestly can't even fucking participate in the GAF thread for this show, it's far too idiotic. All this teamreal/teamimaginary shit is so fucking base I can't even believe it. People that are still hung up on trying to rationalize the tangibility of Mr. Robot are totally missing the point.

Actually, just gonna post it here for posterity. Don't click if you're behind or plan on catching up with this show once you give in to the HYPE TRAIN.
