Angels and demons cluster-f**k

Okay, so, I have found myself to be confused with the entire Angels and Demons thing. At first I figured it was just a book by the same author, about a relatively same topic as the DaVinci Code, only it had lots more action. Then I heard that it's actually a prequel to the Da Vinci code. I then found out that the director is treating the movie as though it is a sequel.

Now my biggest problem with Angels and Demons is that if this is a prequel, then that means that the main character from the davinci code went through a entire separate encounter from the Davinci code, where shit went down of biblical proportions, and it just happens to never be mentioned in the Davinci code. You would think something like that would come up. Then if this is actually a sequel then that raises the question, if this is all that likely. Not only does he uncover the biggest controversy having to do with Jesus but now he ends up taking on heaven and hell (or something like that, i haven't actually read the book)

so I was just wondering if anybody could clear this up for me without spoiling the book for me.

Now that my ranting is over ,on a different note, if you have read both the Da Vinci code and Angels and Demons, do you think if I didn't like Davinci code then I wont like Angels and demons as well?

Well, I know a lot of people who like A&D better than Davinci. I just read them both recently and thought the characters were much better in A&D. They were more interesting and dynamic. I thought Davinci was a better book overall but enjoyed them both.

As for the stories, they really can stand on their own. A&D's plot involves the church but it's not the same as Davinci. And in the Davinci Code he does make mention of "the events that took place in Rome a year ago", which is where A&D takes place but it's very brief.

You can probably find the book cheap, give it a read and see for yourself if you like it, I read it very quickly and I read pretty slow. Also I have not seen the movies but some of my friends who liked Davinci really hate the movie.

I just saw the movie and it really stands very well on its own. Yes, they do briefly mention it, but it doesn't really play a big role.

Overall, I liked this one much better than DaVinci Code, but it's still Dan Brown. I've read most of his books by now and A&D is definitely my favorite (except for that ridiculous helicopter scene, which wasn't as (but still very) ridiculous in the movie) one, however, once you've read two of his books, you start to realize that they are all very similar.

Check out the movie, if you liked the book or simply if you like good thrillers. It didn't really grab me personally though, maybe because I already knew the book, but somehow I felt it lacked a bit more punch.

As far as I noticed, the only implication that this was a sequel to Da Vinci was one character saying something about Langdon's "recent work" making him not very well liked in the Vatican.

In relation to the books, they do mention Langdon's activities in the Vatican/Italy in the DaVinci Code a few times. They're all very nonchalant, nothing like "HAY DUDE REMEMBER THE ILLUMINATI SHIT WAS SO CASH".
