True Blood

Postby kenzo » Aug 10th, 2009 @ 3:42am

So, I know vampire-bashing is in vogue thanks to Twilight, but True Blood is great stuff. It took a while to warm up to the show, but I think it's slowly becoming one of my favorites. Anyone else watch this?

I've been watching since the first season. Its pretty good. The acting isn't so hot sometimes, and the story moves kind of slow at points, but overall its entertaining, and has been a good show to watch this summer while everything else (except for Burn Notice) that I watch has been on break. 8-)

First season was hysterical. This season has been boring the shit out of me. There have been some fun parts, like Erik ripping the prisoner in half, and the big minotaur orgy... First season they were like bashing you over the face every ten minutes with hilarious stuff (the cadre of vampires that was terrorizing Bill and Sookie until they got burned up were the funniest thing I've ever seen), but this season it's all vampire politicks and relationship bullshit. Me and my watching buddy have nearly jumped ship after every episode so far, but boredom has been keeping us watching, and the hope that something worthwhile might happen and make us lol again...

I watched a couple episodes last season and was like "I should watch this" then proceeded to not watch until a few episodes into the second season. Now i watch them all thanks to this new-fangled DVR technology.

It's also on before Hung, so i watch it anyways.

Not so big on the relationships, but the politicking is strangely fascinating to me. It'll be interesting where they take the show with their new Vampire-Jesus.

This Sunday's episode was by far the best of the entire series so far. Way too much awesome and lulz to list it all.

I watched a few episodes here and there in season 1 but hated the Tara so much I couldn't really stick with it. She's a bit more tolerable now and I love this seasons storyline with the vampire hierarchy and storyline. I don't miss an episode now.

Season finale just happened tonight. I love this show; its nonstop cliffhangers really make it the new Lost, which means I'm just as infuriated at it by Seasons' end.

They really used Jason well towards the end of this season. From the promos I was convinced something show changing was going to happen in the Finale, glad that I was surprised it wasn't what I thought. I also started to read the books and I'm amazed at the differences the show made (for the better I think)

You must search out the books if you are fan of the series... The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris.... There is 9 of them...... and each book is pretty much a season of the show... They followed along fairly closely in season 1 but have moved here and there in season 2. Definately not Twilight.

I love this show, but I'm afraid of reading any further into anything vampire related. Now the CW has their own vampire show, and I see trailers for all kinds of new vampire films lately. My roommates are going to a concert for a "Vampire Weekend" in the not so distant future. Vampires are very quickly becoming overplayed.

I agree with the above statement and add; what constitutes a "vampire weekend".

I asked my friend what "Vampire Weekend" is exactly after sending a mass email out to a bunch of friends about getting concert tickets (it unfortunately sold out already) and his reply was, "it's the whitest of white music." Here's a wikipedia article on them:

Holy shit man. The last 15 minutes or so just kept getting better and better. I was expecting each part to be the end based on what you said, and instead I was treated with more and more awesome. Franklin's return, Merlott proving he's not a pussy, the evening news? Fuckin' A.

I didn't give anything away. The only thing remotely spoilery in that is the Franklin bit, and I already explicitly laid out in another thread that Franklin's return was an inevitability.

The disgusting shower scene was spectacular and there was no Brawny Man in this episode, so that was great. They telegraphed the ending as soon as they focused on the newscast, but it was still fucking awesome.

I was kind of down on this season, but they won me over with last weeks awesome ending. They kept up the momentum this week, and I'm really looking forward to the remaining episodes.
