If you think the Engrish in Beck is bad, you should watch Major, which follows the life of a Japanese baseball player as he tries to make it to the major leagues in America. The past season takes place in the United States, but any English dialog is painfully obviously done by actors who don't really speak any English. When American characters talk to each other, they do so in Japanese in lieu of English, which isn't confusing at all! Also, hearing a Japanese person try to do an imitation of an American person saying a Japanese name is rather amusing.
I like to draw stuff.

Check out the thread titled "Who's dressing up for American Cosplay Day (AKA Halloween)?" in the Other Geekery discussion forum. I've decided to take the initiative and make that the official Geekbox Halloween Costume Contest thread. Rules will be posted there as well. I'll be posting pics of myself this week and hope everyone else does likewise!

I think that there's a fundamental misconception as to what 'elitism' is with some of our board members.

Awesome, yea I was hoping the geekbox audience would be a little more chill. and of course I don't think your an elitist, I just didn't want to get drawn in to a discussion about what elitism is that I really had no interest in having. So I tried to make a joke, but unfortunately its kinda hard to tell when people are being serious and when they aren't.

Anyway, thanks dude

Hopefully someone will still check this thread, but you guys should check out the show White Collar on USA to fill the Burn Notice void. It's a similar style crime drama with comedy, but has its own charm, plus it just started last week so there won't be much to catch up on.

USA kind of has the monopoly on these kinds of shows. Monk, Psych, Burn Notice, White Collar, etc.- they're all in the same mold but they're different enough to keep them feeling fresh and entertaining. I enjoyed the pilot for White Collar and plan to keep watching it.

I think White Collar could end up being better than Burn Notice, though it's much too early to tell. I do enjoy seeing Matt Bomer as the lead character, a familiar face to Chuck fans (which is another show the geekbox crew should be watching). Another good show similar to this kinda stuff is Leverage on TNT, featuring Angel's own Christian Kane (and yet another show with a Mark Shepperd cameo).

I listened to the last 2 episodes out of order, and I want to comment about Fitch's 555 deal. I want to know what that guys secret is using those sites, because I can't for the life of me ever have success on them. He seems to have a constant stream of dates all the time, and I haven't ever come close to meeting anyone in person. Granted I'm not a minor internet celebrity or anything. Master Higgins, since you seem to be the only one who checks the forum regularly, perhaps you could ask Fitch to discuss his strategy on a future episode.

Ugh, I hated Psych so much, and still do. Just my personal opinion. "Hey Monk is doing good, lets make another show thats just like it except more kooky and put it on right after Monk."

The Geekbox Episode 36

Postby MariMus » Aug 26th, 2018 @ 4:47pm

I could never fool myself into not thinking that Max would be the master vampire. I recently watched the movie again, this time with my wife who had never seen it before. She saw through the entire thing early in the movie. Why else would the movie focus on a seemingly random supporting character, if he were not in with the vampires?
