The Geekbox: Episode 40

Postby Rydog » Nov 18th, 2009 @ 11:33pm

The scourge of humanity that is Patrick Joynt joins us once again for this week's episode. Let the love and the hate (hopefully more of the former than the latter) begin!

Oh man, the 10 year old who drew that tattoo is amazing.

Why is this week's episode so short? Is it because Patrick is there? (That wasn't a dig at Patrick) Either way, cool beans.

Train delays. Higgins mentioned the brevity in the Halloween costume contest threads.

Magic is always 60 cards even in casual setting. Go to any friday night magic comic store where a bunch of people play magic and anyone you play in a game expects your deck to be 60 cards.

Yeah, the nightmare that is Caltrain delayed everyone by about an hour, so we didn't have nearly as long to record. I think we're going to try and make up for it next week...

As long as Patrick lets others talk I'm fine with him. Haven't listed yet, but I'm willing to give him another try. If he starts dominating everyone though, it's turned off.

Update: After listing to the beginning, it seems like Patrick is acting much more friendly. I wanted to check here before listening, so I wanted to let other people know. Thank you.

I know a lot of entertainment is people arguing at each other, but I enjoy The Geekbox because it doesn't do this. On the last podcast, it seemed like Patrick was playing the part of an argumentative pushy person, but that doesn't fit in The Geekbox. He seems much more honest in this one, and a friendly person.

Aww, dammit! You whiny bitches better not have castrated Patrick! I wanted him back, cracking nerd skull! He better not have underplayed his geek muscle to appease the vocal minority of detractors...

I was a Patrick hater after the last podcast... but I enjoyed him (and the podcast overall) this time.

Just to clarify, your deck must be at least 60 cards. Although it's generally better to have the smallest deck possible.

You can crack nerd skull and you don't have to be the only one talking 90% of the time. Glad to see that pat was able to show some restraint. Maybe he was just a little over excited last time around.

Patricks appearance was dare i say a pleasure?! He got his voice in here and there but didn't dominate the podcast. Good episode! Cheers everyone!!

Karen please say you didn't make up the tattoo with Patrick swayze's head on a unicorn! I checked out the website and the one with wolverine riding a my little pony is by far and away the best one yet.

I'm sorry but I must now officially join the Patrick hating bandwagon for he has disgraced the good name of Alton Brown. How could you possibly try to even suggest that Alton might be anything other than a god? Other than that, you're alright, but some things just cannot be forgiven. Now I won't be able to watch good eats without patrick's evil ideas prodding at me.

A decent geeky tattoo is the Individual Eleven symbol from Ghost in the Shell. Good episode BTW. Seeing as you guys talk about Venture Bros. so much I'm gonna go out on a limb & buy the first season for like £6 from Amazon. We don't get it here in the UK I don't think D:
If you have room in your life for another podcast listen to a far worse one- 4 or so 16 year old Brits talking http://pod.bottlelife.co.uk/tgc.xml

You have never seen Alton Brown deal with other people on the food network holiday specials. I love Alton Brown more than anybody(I watched the episode of Spongebob he did like a million times) but he is rather annoyed with us common folk.

NOOOOOOO! I can't hear all of this. It can't be true! My poor world is crumbling around me. On that point though, on those specials isn't he more interacting with the other food network people? Maybe he's just done with them. On the note of meeting Alton Brown though, I've missed a couple opportunities to see him and I've been kicking myself every since.
