The Geekbox: Episode 41

Postby Rydog » Nov 26th, 2009 @ 1:11am

With Karen and Mike out this week, it's an awkward three-man nerd band. Give it a listen... if you dare.

The original TMNT comic was the Frank Miller to any latter incarnation's Archie Comics. This turtles thing actually sounds kind of awesome. Ryan Scott must be getting paid by 4Kids.

Great episode as usual.

Also awesome that Ryan took the time to read a bunch of negative/poorly thought out comments from other forums and yet seems to pretend that his own forums don't exist.

The only reason he saw them was because I linked them to him. I just thought it would be fun to talk about, since some of those guys on the STO site are out of their mind. He's never been a big forum poster, but he does read a lot of the treads here, so don't worry.

I can NOT believe you guys talked about Turtles Forever! <3 I tried so hard to watch it on Saturday but for some reason my antenna wasn't picking up CW. :( I need to find a way to watch it. I've only seen a few episodes of the new Turtles show, but I WORSHIPED the OG show.

I zoned out during the STO conversation, which occupied most of the time.

Ryan: "This is probably going to be a short episode.."

Turned out to be quite long, and that is a good thing.

Could it be because of this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_te ... transition No more analog television signals in the U.S. all digital now.

Also I meant to get this in last episodes thread but Patrick was quite enjoyable last episode having dialed back the arrogant nerd vibe from his first apperance.

No, I've got an HDTV and an antenna that picks up the digital signals. I get all local channels and CW actually comes in now, it just wasn't that particular morning cause God hates me.

Hey guys,

New poster here - loved the turtles conversation, especially since the original dark-as-hell graphic novels are the first comics I ever picked up at age 4 or 5... those didn't warp me at all.

Still, the full-spread Shredder-is-alive reveal in book 4 is one of my favourite splash pages of all time.

Great convo.

One thing I did want to ask though, considering that I tend to have similar taste in TV as the various Geek Boxians: Why is it that you guys haven't gotten into Galactica? You mentioned it briefly on the last podcast, and that none of you have really gotten into it. Any specific reason why? I'm not criticizing, just curious as I would place Lost as my second favourite show -only- to Galactica... plus it's all out on DVD, so there's just no excuse anymore for missing the only good program the Sci-Fi channel ever made.

This episode played out like one of my grandfather's stories. My Grandfather used to say, "to make a long story short" and then go on forever, while Ryan said this was going to be short and it turned out to be almost an hour and a half long. Not that i am complaining. i liked it.

Wait, if Ryan reads and mentions forums that bitch and complain about him then bitch, complain, bitch, complain, bitch, complain, bitch, complain, bitch, complain. There. maybe now we'll get a friggin mention.

One problem I found with Galactica is that it turned to garbage in the later seasons (still a great series though).
