What do you mean? I was actually expecting Jeff Green. Not sure if there was some obvious hint that it was going to be Greg Ford but if there was I missed it. Not that I'm complaining too much. Greg's cool but so far into the podcast he has bad mouthed MGS4 so -1.

It was inevitable. Avatar was going to attract crazies.

Avatar Spoilers
There's a furryxfurry love scene and there's a furryxhuman tender scene.

I still think the movie is awesome though. Can't let Furries ruin a good movie.

I think it's less the furries, and more the fact that it's a James Cameron film. When you make movies as popular as his, it's simple statistics that you're going to get more than a few crazies coming out to see them. In today's internet-driven, rule 34 world, there would probably be a new genre of cyborg-porn if Terminator 2 had been made today and not 18 years ago.

I've seen Avatar twice. The first time was good. I was going in with high expectations and the film really struggled to meet those expectations -- but it did, barely. The second time, I tagged along with some friends who hadn't seen it and, much to my dismay, I realized the film does not hold up well to repeated viewings. After the novelty of the much praised (and deservedly so) CGI wears off, the hollow shell that is the story and characterization begins to crack, and it's a chore to sit through.

I am somewhat glad that it's doing as well as it is, financially. Two weeks at the top of the box office (and the good possibility of the same for its third week) and big international numbers means that Cameron is happy.

I actually wondered prior to release what would happen if the movie failed. My mind conjured up the image of James Cameron being crushed under the weight of his own hubris.

Anyway, this week's podcast was great. Nice to hear G. Ford again. Happy new year, everyone.

The three greatest games of the decade are: Pokemon Gold/Silver, Warcraft 3 Battle Chest, FFX, (would put FFVII but it was a couple months too early) honourable mention Halo 2. /thread

Top three games of the decade?

1-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
2-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
3-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Honorable Mention... Resident Evil 4... because I ran out of Metal Gears.(I'm not going to put the portable one.)

Also I accidentally called Avatar a game in my previous post. I edited it.

Well I'm glad you at least put MGS3 above the rest of the MGS games released this decade.

Some people feel that in 2009(or 10) a game shouldn't require you to look at the manual. It should all be expressed in the gameplay. I think that method is always best but I really dislike when someone takes a stance like Ryan Scott did. "This game doesn't deserve me because it made me fail five times in a role. There is no reason why game developers shouldn't read my mind and make their game only for me." Ofcourse that's not what he said but that's what, I think, game developers heard. Some people say that developers hate the press because they're a bunch of pretentious idiots. Whether or not that's true I think the comments that Ryan Scott made about AC2 is what encourages developers to think of the press like that.

Hi. New to the geebox but I love it. Been listening for about 8 episodes feeling all the crew and guests. A bit pissed of though when you guys were talking about understanding the language in Sherlock Holmes. I'm English but don't speak like Kiera Knightly or Mary fracking Poppins, like most people in this country. I watch a lot of US TV and find that it helps when watching US films especially when dealing with people with strong accents rather than your typical east coast/west coast american plain speaking US stereotypes. I think that if you take a little more time to watch a bit more British TV or listen to more British Music you would find it easier to understand us. I know a lot of British TV sucks ass but the Music ain't bad. In defence of Karen though, NOBODY understands a lot of what was said in Snatch.
