Judging by the show notes, you guys crap all over Avatar? Almost makes me not want to listen....Almost. Good thing I'm not that sort of fanboy.

I haven't seen Avatar yet nor am I sure if I want to, but thank you for taking a dump on the movie. I always thought it looked stupid from the previews.

I really enjoyed Avatar, I just really wish anyone else had written it...... in the world...... including Jeph Loeb. Unobtainium seriously, they could have taken any 3 sylibles and thrown them together and id have taken it. The only way i can justify it in my head is, that Avatar takes place so far in the future that they just ran out of names for things and that was the only one left.

It looked pretty though, and the design work in creating pandora is second to none.

Apparently the word unobtainium has been around for a long time. It's not a made up word by Cameron. At least that's what they said on the @1up podcast this past week. It still sounds stupid.

At this point, why even bother mentioning Mike Cruz? Serious question. I think he's been on two episodes since the wonderful Greg Ford went away.

Even after leaving, Greg has been on half as many episodes as Mike has since he left!

The State of the Union Address was never officially scheduled for February 2; it was just one of two days (along with January 26) that the White House was reportedly considering. The campaign by fans and such was a preemptive one hoping to avoid the premiere getting bumped a week, not a reactionary one because it had.

Like James Marsters, David Anders (Alias, Heroes) is another American actor who is always cast as British. It's weird to hear him speak with an American accent (aka- his normal speech).

And to Karen's question about getting 3D without the glasses, I could have sworn I read something about that in a home theater system that was shown at CES this past week. The polarized scree was attached the front of the TV, I think. But I could be wrong.

The fact that unobtainium is a real word doesn't make it any less stupid imo. It was stupid enough that it took me out of the film when it was mentioned. It's not just that, that I had a problem with though. The whole script was baddly written. Still I can't give enough praise to the design work though.

HAD to register listening to the avatar rant.

completely disagree. I can't believe what I'm hearing. Movie was a terrific watch. Gorgeous visuals, great 3D, great finale. I don't know what else to say but ... you need to take a chill pill. Rottentomatoe scoring at 83% currently and this being on the way to being the biggest movie of all time says you're wrong. You're entitled to your POV although but the comment about the love scene... worse than episode 2 "love scene"... what rubbish

I also found the attack on its predictability a bit weak - Honestly, I haven't seen a movie in ages that wasn't predictable. You just struck me as not being able to have fun

Ryan Higgins = Cranky Geek

Fitch = Geek Snob

Neither seemed to LET themselves enjoy the film as much as they could have. They took "Geek Offense" at some things that an average movie go-er might just be able to laugh off and still enjoy the film.

I liked it a lot. Go figure.

The only problem is, if we don't take offense, the more average at best movies we're going to get. It's sad that we're to the point where we enjoy crap because crap is all we get

Fitch doesn't like District 9 or Spider-Man 1, Higgins likes Episode 2. Them not liking Avatar is proof that it's a good movie.

I'm a little shocked that Ryan is the only member of the podcast that likes the A-Team.

Do you ever have anything positive to say? Seriously. 5 posts and not a positive one. At least Keno's hyperbole and sometimes less than stellar attitude is mildly amusing.

It's a valid question. Hell Roadie Brock's made more than half as many appearances as Mike (counting last week's when he was off mic waiting for a lift).

5 posts? If you say so.

And come on, you can't really count the above as being negative, I was just asking a question. Besides, we all know the internet is for three things: porn, cheap products from online retailers, and worthless, hamfisted ranting on forums.

Right?

I came here to pretty much post this. Unobtainium was the work of Larry Niven who is an awesome author. Jerry Pournelle (who co-wrote Lucifer's Hammer, Inferno, and a few other books with Niven.) described Niven's creation of unobtainium in Ringworld on This Week in Tech #223 which was really interesting.

Man why all the hate people? Before the dumping on Avatar it was a fine episode and you probably listen to the podcast to hear peoples opinions so why not just say "everyone is entitled to their wrong opinion"? Also, Lol at Avatar fanboys. Man that is my favourite film of almost all time but that is just wierd. Besides the soundtrack is the only mediocare thing about Avatar.

I heard my name?? Glad to be of service!! :)

Who cares if Mike Cruz isn't on much? He's their friend, they wanna give a shout out - what's wrong with that? Are we writing Geekbox canon here? Cause if we are, I'd like to point out that Mike Cruz has had more to do with the Geekbox than Sulu or Chekov did on the original Star Trek, and yet they're main characters! :P

Mike has been busy with A Major Thing, and then had some family business to take care of. He'll be on next week, and I think in 2 or 3 weeks we'll get the lowdown on everything going on.

As long as there's a decent reason I'm sure all the haters will be placated in the end.

About Demon's Souls...

All you need to know in order to play the game is pretty evident from the game and booklet. All those complicated details that get mentioned are only important if you're interested in seeing specific special event stuff. If you don't concern yourself with this minutiae you'll still be able to progress through the game well enough.

It does have a steep learning curve in the beginning but it's not all that difficult once you level up a little and catch on to how it operates. Don't worry about playing it in any one specific way, just enjoy the game world. It really is a terrific game.

Thanks for the show folks, I really enjoy it quite a bit :)
