The Geekbox: Episode 57

Postby Rydog » Mar 16th, 2010 @ 10:34am

This week's episode is up. Karen's out again -- she's at the SXSW festival, so if you're in Austin and happen to see her there, tell her hi!

First of all Pokemon Gold/Silver were the best pokemon games to date and it's great seeing how they stack up with the improvements of the 3rd and 4th gen along with the new content that they added to the game.

Second seriously Karen is gone again. :(

Third I almost forgot about Strange Journey, I should pick that up next week to be put in my DS games stack after Pokemon Soul Silver, Sands of Destruction and possibly my copy of Pokemon Heart Gold if I'm feeling like some more pokemon action.

Edit: Wait Survivor is still going. Dude what.

I forgot that Comics Conspiracy is the name of Master Higgins comic shop. It's funny since at first I thought they said the name wrong and it should be Conspiracy Comics. The reason I got mixed up being that there is a chain of comics shops (and other geeky stuff ie. manga, anime, trading card games, table top RPGs, miniatures, figures, etc.) in Burlington, Hamilton and Oakville Ontario called Conspiracy Comics.

http://www.conspiracycomics.com/home.shtml

It's funny that the names are so similar seeing at how far away from each other each shop(s) is.

question is with all the future kiddies playing their games in the clouds, will they be able to get past that level in Battletoads?

Awesome, I will listen when iTunes stops being a major prick and downloads the episode. I hate waiting a week after Lost to hear the gang talk about it.

Ryan Scott, you are so white. FOE Garden???

And how have you never had a fluffer-nutter? It's the whitest of white bread sandwiches!

Marshmallow fluff and peanut butter with a shot of insulin. It screams white middle class suburbia.

Can't believe all the love for Tim Burton.

I'd class him alongside Quentin Tarantino as one of the most overrated directors ever. Only without Tarantino's arrogance.

If you want people to leave comments / rate you on iTunes, you need to incentivise it. Read people's funny comments, and give thanks on the podcast to the people who do. It works for The Instance podcast!

Well then Mr. Smarty Pants, who would you consider to be a great director then?

QT is good. Burton does competent work but I have no stomach for his movies anymore.

TB's style has become rather repetitive, QT is better at mixing it up.

Agreed. You can't just make a podcast and then beg for people to rate it. Depending solely on the merits of the podcast only works if your podcast is exceptional (which The Geekbox isn't). Probably the next easiest thing to do to grab ratings (aside from simply posting the podcast) is to get more involved in the discussion forums.
