The Geekbox: Episode 60

Postby Rydog » Apr 6th, 2010 @ 5:08pm

In this week's episode, we discuss WonderCon and the iPad and lots of other boring stuff. And some awesome stuff too. Like LOST. Enjoy. :)

It was odd listening to this week's Lost talk having already seen the new episode for this week. It's like I wanted to say to the crew, "don't worry, it does get better, there are some answers."

Speaking of which, i09 already posted an article stating that at least 15 things are answered in this week's episode: http://io9.com/5511351/15-things-we-learned-in-last-nights-lost

Desmond episodes are the best.

Unrelated, iPad sucks.

Now that LOST is finishing up, maybe we should start a "Fitch: A handy guide to unsolved mysteries" thread!

Isn't it just a giant iPod Touch (with optional 3G connectivity, eventually)?

They are similar. It has better resolution and a better processor.

Still missing:
built-in camera
USB port (a real one, not an adapter)
SD card slot
HDMI-out video capabilities
multitasking
and the trivial ability to view Flash enabled websites

The IPad might be stupid now. I forsee at least 3 tablet PCs with superior specs to outdo that clunker by Christmas, probably one or two of them on Android. Also, by then, Apple will probably lower the cost and increase the power for a second release in order to compete. By the end of next year though, I'm thinking they will all become powerful enough to replace most low to mid end laptops, and certainly the netbooks. SOME "BIG DUH" upgrades needed - It needs to carry stereo audio, usb, flash support, a camera, and cmon people - NO MULTITASKING? nuff sed. :|

If I get an iPad I'll use the kindle app for books instead of itunes, that way if I can read the books on non apple hardware. Plus the kindle app has like 400,000 books and itunes has only 40,000

That will work as long as you aren't trying to read it out in the sun. The still need an eInk app for the iPad.

I've been meaning to state this for some time now...

But Karen Chu is one kinky little mamma-jamma.

I love how she's hanging out with 3/4 dudes and is always the first to jump on ANY sexual innuendos :)

She can Chu Chu my rocket any day >_<

That's too bad that Wondercon is as crazy packed as SDCC. I went to San Diego back in 2008, and I was thinking of going back this summer, but opted to go to PAX East instead. I don't regret that choice. SDCC felt like it was more about douchebags buying up cases of exclusive action figures for online scalpers than a cohesive fan community, and it was so packed that a bunch of fun was sucked out of it.

I love the Geekbox. It takes me back to my childhood days sitting on my Moms porch with pals Reading comics and discussing the storys and characters that would grace the pages each week, whilst drinking cola. Perfect. However, then my big sister would come along and destroy all that happiness, teasing, annoying and just generaly pissing on a good time. This is Karen Chew.

Man, I can't wait for the 3G iPads to come out. Not because I want one, but because my Dad does. Which means when he gets one, he will have no use for his Kindle anymore, which means I can steal it. Hurray free gadgets!

If you want someone that destroys all happiness, is annoying and pisses on a good time look no further than Fitch.

Master Higgins lost theory vindicated

Postby Grendyll » Apr 8th, 2010 @ 8:36am

A shout out to Ryan Higgins for his hunch that when Sun was knocked out, the physical trauma caused the worlds to bleed together. I'd never thought of that but had already seen the next, Desmond episode when I listened to the podcast and it totally makes sense.

That makes no sense at all, in the alt timeline they are in 2004, on the island its 2007. So the physical trauma thing would not only have to cross realities but also time travel.
