The Geekbox: Episode 63

Postby Rydog » Apr 28th, 2010 @ 12:27pm

This week's episode is up a little later than expected (due to my podcast host undergoing migration to a new backend system), but hopefully guest-hosts Justin Haywald and Ray Barnholt make up for it!

From Wikipedia:

Orbitz -
The small balls floated due to their nearly equal density to the surrounding liquid, and remained suspended with assistance from an ingredient known as gellan gum. The gellan gum provided a support matrix—something like a microscopic spider web--and had a visual clarity approaching that of water, which increased with the addition of sugar.

^^^^ Ugh, this sounds absolutely disgusting. It sounds like it would taste like someone spitting in your mouth.

Do whatever you can to get Ray to appear more often. I'm talking dark stuff. I'm talking blackmail. Ryan HAS to have some dirt on him by now, right? LAY DOWN YOUR TERMS.

I have that Disney covers album! There are actually two of them: Mosh Pit on Disney and Dive Into Disney. They have lots of Jrock artists, but there are also some American ones like Reel Big Fish and Andrew WK.
I like to draw stuff.

I think the ones of you who have Netflix should watch the full season of Spartacus. Even though it really doesn't start getting good till episode 4. Watch it and then make your remark on it since it does have a great show stopping ending.

For once, I agree with this podcast about New Warriors. I remember picking up the first few issues when it was coming out after Civil War, and I dug it. Sadly, I had to hold off on buy books for a while due to job suckage. Now I'll just have to remember to pick up the trade for it, and maybe I'll check out the original series TPB later once I have money.

Edit: By the way, this is possibly the most enjoyable episode, due to lack of whining and complaining I normally hear.

P.S.: ...Balls.

RE: Lost

Sun was able to talk again because she was reunited with Jin. The sideways world has shown us that true love is the answer to righting wrongs. Oddly enough, I randomly watched the season 3 episode where Desmond first goes back in time and meets Eloise in the jewelry shop, and in the episode, Desmond talks to his physicist friend about time travel and Penny. After a while his friend says, "I'm pretty sure time travel is impossible. But in my experience, true love is just as enlightening." And they're just now resolving that, with Desmond trying to get everyone to remember the correct timeline in the sideways world. Great stuff!

Here is the breakdown on Mountain Dew:

The current promotion is the three new flavors, White Out which is kind of like Sprite (I assume this would be Ryan Scott's favorite since it is colorless and kind of bland), Typhoon which is a tropical punch flavor (my least favorite), and the best one: Distortion which is lime flavored (even more-so than Baja Blast which is also delicious). Until the end of the promotion, you can vote for your favorite flavor on dewmocracy.com (3 time per day I believe, so vote early vote often), this lasts for another month and a half. The winner will become a new regular flavor. This is the same thing they did a year or two ago with Revolution, Supernova, and Voltage. The winner was Voltage, the blue raspberry and ginseng flavor that Justin mentioned.

My favorite is Livewire, and the orange Gamer Fuel when they have it. I have to admit I'm not a fan of Code Red, but it's been a while since I had it, maybe I'll give it another try. And regular old Mountain Dew is just fine.

Gamer Fuel is my Dew of choice. I suspect a lot of that is do to limited availability. I also like the Throwback Dew when I can find it.

Thanks... I think?

I wish I could make it on more (and that I could bring my brother-in-arms, Ray, with me). But the Ryan's record far, far away from where I live. I don't know how Karen does it every week!

If it makes you feel better I think Karen sounds like a talking piranha, Fitch sounds like a talking kangaroo, Higgins sounds like an emu, and Ryan sounds like a seagull
