I went with an early 90's Marvel cover layout. When I think of a comic book cover, this is the format I see in my head. I'm nostalgic that way.

I decided to use the founding members of The Geekbox in the design. Though Greg Ford does not make an appearance as much as the rest nowadays, when he does, he's entertaining enough to leave an impression. He's a funny dude. So he's in.

Karen, at one point during a recent podcast, requested that the Tardis somehow be integrated into the design. So, there it is.

Any guest podcasters can be considered one of the people in the background. You just have to look really hard and use your imagination. They are all there, I swear!

I was in the middle of a full color version before I realized that it might be best to keep it monotone for the sake of printing costs. I greyscaled the whole thing, but it looked lifeless. Pure black and white linework looked kind of sterile. In the end, I made a compromise somewhere in between. I imagine this as a rare variant cover with the characters uncolored. In the heyday of early 90's comics, where a new line might have half a dozen variant covers for the premiere issue, something like this would be right at home.

I tried to include a few touches like a new Hammersuit logo, Geek Code seal of approval, and authentic 1992 prices to keep it interesting. It's still a work in progress, but I thought I'd share what I have so far. I hope you guys like it.

Holy shit! I would pay real money to read this comic.

I would consider buying this shirt if it was just the line-art of the cast members; no bg or logos. Also, Ryan Scott needs to be doing something ridiculous like holding frostmourne above his head. If you're keeping all the BG/comic look stuff, I suggest simplifying the colors of the sky, since it'll make screen-printing the image logistically a lot easier/cheaper for whoever is making the t-shirts.

But those petty things aside, fuckin' sweet design man!

Why does Ryan have no feet? Maybe he's so tall because he's floating above the ground.

He's too awesome to have something so pedestrian as feet.

Also, he's packing some junk!...er...in that illustration, that is.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I made some little tweaks, stripped all the color out, and removed all the text. Hopefully this is more appropriate for printing on shirts. I just realized that the image size is a little large. You might have to open it in a new window or tab to see the cropped portions. I hope you like it.

Looks awesome but I wonder how it would look without the sky, ground and tardis and just had them with a black background with the eyes and teeth everywhere.

This design is the best so far. I'd go with simple colourings and no background or police box myself. Tough design to work as a shirt - I wouldn't wear it myself as is.

Limited print poster run at $10-$20 a pop. I'd get it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate hearing your thoughts on it. Everything is on it's own layer in Photoshop, so once I finish coloring I'll put up a few different variations: Full color, basic color, greyscale, lineart, no Tardis, no text, etc. It's all pretty much a work in progress, with tweaks and changes being made all the time. Initially I imagined a comic book cover centered on the front of the shirt. I'm not married to the idea however. In the end though, if my design does get picked, I'll try to satisfy the tastes of the community as best as I can. Again, thanks for all the positive vibes. It makes the effort worth it.

Here's a sneak peek at some progress. There's still quite a bit of work to be done.

i'm thinking the height of the podcasters isn't taken into consideration in the comic image..
