The Geekbox: Episode 79

Postby Rydog » Aug 18th, 2010 @ 5:50pm

This week marks Andrew Fitch's last episode for a few months, as he's in the process of relocating for a new job. We're bummed to see him go! Fortunately, we have a new regular stepping in to fill the fourth seat next week. And CGW/GFW's Jeff Green will be guest-starring, too!

But enough about next week -- check out this week's episode!

Just finished downloading the cast. I'm headed out to go train for Rugby. Thanks again GeekBox Crew. Also, a pre-show listening GOOD LUCK to Mr. Fitch. You've always been one of my favorite "Game Media" personality's.

Is the new regular going to be announced in this episode? Is it Mike Cruz? (Haha!)

P.S. Hopefully Fitch isn't moving too far away, I guess the drifter lifestyle, doing "Stuff" for money, wasn't cutting it. Don't fall to the "former/guest host" list, please.

Replacements for Fitch: I'm crossing my fingers for either Patrick or Roadie Brock.

Just loaded the episode onto my mp3 player. Time to go jogging for the last time with Fitch's dulcet voice in my ears. :(

Please don't let it be Patrick.

I say there's only one person that can replace Fitch and that's Fitch's twin brother!

I'd be happy if it's Brock. Patrick would be okay, but only if every episode wasn't an argument. I could see Brock, but I don't think I could see Patrick as a regular.

The hope is Fitch will be back in a few months, so I don't think this is goodbye forever.

But I will miss him until he comes back!

If I recall, it was said that Dana Jongewaard lives near Karen Chu, and that she should be on the podcast more during the E3 episode. That's a long shot though. Jade Kraus maybe? It would be fantastic to see Patrick as a regular.

I'll miss Fitch...even though I don't know much about him...after listening to him for at least sixty hours. Hrrm. Mysterious he is, but missed, he will be.

Hitch brought a certain mysterious serial killer/male stripper/secret spy vibe that I appreciated. He will be missed.

I've got a great mental image of Fitch doing a dance routine with his brother.

Having never played the new Castlevania, Ryan talking about it made it sound a lot like Diablo 2 with his farming if bosses

Too bad Ryan Scott is stuck in the stone age on such matters.

That said, I can't blame him. I'm scared of Skype too.

There are enough podcasts with Skype quality audio, we don't need another.

If it gives me a weekly dose of Fitch, then I think I am willing to deal with Skype.

Fitch will be too busy with his new hitch to get on Skype weekly.

Agreed, the only really listenable way to do it is like how the CAGcast is done. They all talk to each other on Skype, but they are all also producing their own high quality audio tracks with their mics. Cheapy just melds all the real audio tracks into one master podcast that sounds good.

Glad to hear Ryan finally get heated about Castlevania. Between last week's Geekbox and this weeks Debriefing, the conversation hasn't been very candid. It's hard to quantify to people that don't "get it" why people like us are still playing the game. Some ridiculous OCD draw is making me want to play the game until all characters are maxed out and I have every piece of five star loot. I agree that I wish there was more to this game, be it a sequel, a nightmare difficulty level, or just dozens of new chapters to play through. I mentioned in the game's thread that I was in a group that self imposed some insane gear restrictions to squeeze some challenge out of the game. I think that's a great idea that a lot of hardcore fans are going to be trying in the future as everybody finishes raping the boss loot tables.
