The Geekbox: Episode 101

Postby Rydog » Jan 20th, 2011 @ 12:58am

The Geekboxies are delayed because I'm stupid and bad at remembering dumb holidays, but we've turned out a fun episode for our two-year anniversary. Enjoy!

Also: You should totally watch Being Human, which just premiered on SyFy this week. It's great.

Happy 2 year anniversary.

Another hokey Sci-Fi show from the BBC. I think I'll pass. The acting in all those shows is downright terrible. All that money to produce these shitty shows could be going to produce something substantially better, like Top Gear.

EDIT:

Nvrmind apparently it's a remake not developed by the BBC.

The actors in Top Gear aren't even good at playing themselves anymore.

BBC's acting is a helluva lot better than these horrible American counterparts. It's amazing how bad you can eff it up with bigger budgets and better production values.

Try watching our version and you wont complain about yours. Clarkson can flip as many Robins as he wants, Top Gear is still great, and the specials are some of the best things on TV.

I still think Adam Ferrara is great.

UK Top Gear has been shit for several years now, and that's as a fan. They need to dump Clarkson and replace him, as slowly but surely he's become the show. Oh, and more cars please. Specials should be just that.

And BBC3's stuff is amazing - Being Human and Mighty Boosh are great demonstrations of that. That's why the BBC is having to axe the channel as the funding gets cut *_*

Even if the last few years of Top Gear have not lived up to the previous years, it is a masterpiece compared to the US version. The hosts are stilted, awkward, unfunny and everything they say seems forces and read from cue cards. I would not mind at all if they replaced Rutledge Wood.

It sounds like the only reason Higgins likes DCUO is because he bought it.

I've never disagreed so much with my homegirl Karen this much:

Michel Gondry [pronounced Mike-al Gondry, kill that French accent noise] isn't that great. As a matter of fact, I'd say that homeboy 'done fell off. Be Kind Rewind was pretty damn awful. Did anyone have to review that movie besides me? I saw that movie for free and I wanted my lint back.

He's suffering from the M. Knight fame. Where when people can't point to your recent works as anything decent or exceptional they reference the 'couple of things' you did in the past as if its still relevant today. Love Eternal Sunshine and Science of Sleep is...well...a really good date movie, nothing more. When people say he's a visionary I'd say he needs to be a part of a special effects team. His concepts are amazing, but as of late his execution has been pretty damn bad.

The Green Hornet is boring. The movie shines when Rogen and Chou are having their hero-sidekick interactions. Cameron Diaz didn't need to be in this movie. Waltz didn't really have a lot to do. Sorry, but ya boy Gondry needs to step his rap game up.

I don't understand why Karen was so shocked that no one on the podcast knew who Michael Gondry was.

Don't you mean fuck with? I wouldn't mind fux except "fucks" doesn't work in this context. If you're going to butcher how you word things (of which I occasionally haven't any issues), please do so with good grammar

Anyway, Karen, if by uncomfortable humor you mean Gervais is one of the funniest men alive, I whole heartedly agree

Vinny from Giantbomb named his DCUO character B4tm4n. Guy is a psychic mummy that shoots guys and has a top hat.

Ya it seems they don't give a shit about looking for people trying to not so subtly make their name an actual superhero.

I like both Rutledge and Tanner. Ferrara has to go. At least I know both Rutledge and Tanner like cars, Ferrara seems indifferent about it all.

And as for Top Gear UK, I just watched the last 2 episodes (Danny Boyle and 3 wise men special). They were both very good. Not as good as the Africa or Vietnam Special, but those were brillant.
Spoiler: show
Jeremy flying the copter and knocking out the lights and then Hammond burning the tree was pretty hilarious.

I dunno probably copyright infringment. To me it doesn't matter I was just commenting because they were talking about all the DC names and such they saw people with in DCUO on the podcast.
