We have to appease the masses. I just wish that involved some ground breaking news, a great story or something really interesting, but that is something Marvel has been lacking for some time. Just look at my pull list and see how many Marvel titles I actually pick up. Not much and the sad thing is I like some of the Marvel characters. Maybe you are right. Why do we keep talking about Marvel? Because we have hope. man typing that out sounds really sad and depressing. Oh well.

Just a heads up, you goofed up the credit for Habibi in the show notes.

Also as a heads up, Habibi sounds like a hipster garbage comic.

I could have sworn there was already a Batman graphic novel called something like "Holy Terror". It was one of the earliest ones, and had Batman on the cover draped in some templar-like standards or something.

Habibi is fantastic, and a probable antidote to Frank Miller's 'Holy Terror', which I have no intention of reading (and came out on the same day.)

As I told LiQuid, Grant Morrison's run on Batman was first met with excitement, then confusion, annoyance, dismissal, re-examination, epiphany, and finally, reignited fandom.

It helps to think of his run on Batman all the way up to Batman, Inc. as one, singular story arc. Payoffs for story elements made in the monthly Batman book and Final Crisis don't come until Return of Bruce Wayne and Batman & Robin. He makes you work for each revelation, but each one gives you a totally satisfying AHA! moment.

Wow Sailor Moon, man that's old. Most of the manga I'm currently trying to collect is new stuff. Although 3 of those series are up in arms because Tokyopop who was the license holder went under.

One of them will for sure get picked up by somebody else because Tokyopo only put out two volumes and the series has a huge fan following and is still ongoing, which is Hetalia: Axis Powers.

I'm most worried about Future Diary* because they only had 1 volume left to translate and if somebody else is going to pick it up they are going to want to release all 11 volumes instead of 1, which means they need enough people buying the first 10 to make it worth while, although there is an anime of it coming out this coming season so I guess if it does gangbusters it might convice a publisher to put it out here, it's really just the worry if they would sell enough to make it to volume 11.

As for the other one, it's my current shoujo title that I was following, Maid Sama! it was left at volume 8 of 13 so far. (it's still an ongoing series) It acted as my light hearted romantic comedy/drama fix, and I have no idea what's going to happen to it.

*such a great series, it's basically Battle Royale except that the characters have diaries, which predict their future in a style that matches how the diary is used. Ie. the main character's diary predicts what happens around him but provides nothing about him specifically, another character has a diary that is just about escape routes, etc.

White = best.

Also stop talking about manga. Higgins bringing that up was a huge mistake. Manga is not real comics. I get carrying that crap to appease customer base but we better never hear about manga on the podcast again.

Even though I'm quite certain you are just pulling some Image for shits and giggles.

I will remind you that U.S. super hero comics aren't all written and drawn exclusively by white people.

How so? The definition of a comic is just a sequence of drawings with text that tell a story, are usually periodical and involve a cast of re-occuring characters. That's the same way manga works, with the note that in North America the publishers rarely publish single issues.

Or are you specifically referring to U.S. super hero comics when you as an individual are talking about comics?

Manga is backwards comics. They are literally anti comics. Backwards ass comics for a backwards ass country.

What about mirrored manga such as Vertical's release of Osamu Tezuka's Buddha. It's read the same way that U.S. super hero comics are.

I can't see that image Ko, but I'm imagining that it says something along the lines of "Welcome to the Internet!"

Also, there's no point in arguing the merits of something Japanese to LiQuid, and you should know this by now.

Fixed, it's way too late and I forgot to preview first to see if I would need to host the image on photobucket or not.

I'm not arguing it's merits, I'm questioning Liquid about his definition of what comics are.
