The Geekbox: Episode 139

Postby Rydog » Oct 11th, 2011 @ 11:36pm

This week's short-but-insane show guest-stars pro lawyer/games journalist/ladykiller Eric Neigher, who is super-awesome and hilarious. Enjoy!

One of the best episodes ever. Eric Neigher is a great guest.

The Geekbox is best when you aren't talking about geeky stuff :P

Oh God I love Ryan's mildly offensive ignorance of religion. I wonder if I was to ask him about Sikhs he would say "Isn't that the mask chick from Zelda?"

And Robert E. Howard, Fritz Lieber, Ursula K. Le Guin, Robert Jordan, Gary Gygax and Bioware are so English Adam.

Higgins it's official. I hate you.

<---- MIDDLE SCHOOL TROMBONE PLAYERS UNITE!

Haha, played a bunch for like 2 years and then I was just like, why the hell do I play the trombone?! Love music. Wish I would have gotten into piano, drumming or guitars, since I've always enjoyed doing them as a hobbyist, but for some reason middle school band teachers were very against me playing traditional instruments... I think they were just trying to fill out the ranks of the lesser picked instruments and we're all the suckers that fell for it!

For cool trombone use in a non-Ska band, check out Typhoon.

Also, I've never thought too much about how bastard swords got their name, but they're hand and a half swords, right? Not quite a full two-handed blade, kinda like someone without married parents, maybe?

EDIT: Oh, and at the end of the episode Erik nails my thought process.

Oh man, I'm laughing my ass off listening everytime I can figuratively hear Ryan Scott roll his eyes at something Fitch is talking about.

1.) Zoroastrianism is a real thing, and it's pretty neat. It's a pretty common theory that Judaism (and Christianity and Islam) all shot off from Zoroastrianism at some point.

B.) If you grew up in California during the 80s and early 90s, you knew Cal Worthington. His commercials were on every channel, during every show, during every commercial break. None of you assholes who grew up out of state know what's up, so here's a crash course. When he says "Go see Cal" it sounds like "Pussy-cow":

III.) "Time's Arrow" was probably my favorite season ending cliffhanger. The crew in old SF was awesome. Ryan Scott really needs to watch Star Trek.

^How rad is that shit???

Shit, you weren't kidding. I had to sit down so that I wouldn't literally be ROFLing.

Also, Maria Ozawa is not attractive. She is a F-R-E-A-K: FREAK. I remember seeing her at some point and being like, "Oh man, this woman is really beautiful. Oh, she's Hapa, eh? I can get behind that (pun intended). Wait. What am I looking at? Ummm... OH GOD, WHY ARE THEY SHITTING ON HER!?"

The only Maria Ozawa thing I ever watched was this one where she was a news reporter and dudes would leap up on the newsdesk and cum on her face, then some guy fucked her from behind as two more guys jizzed all over her. She was a trooper, even with a dick in her mouth she kept trying to read the news sheets.

I was listening to the Geekbox this morning while walking to the train stop. I saw a newspaper on the ground that had a picture of a painting. For some reason, it reminded me of Ryan Scott. (Sorry, Ryan).

I also played piano as a hobby in elementary school (around grade 2 to grade 7) and guitar throughout high school. I've been meaning to pick the guitar back up but just haven't found the time after first year of university. Hopefully once I'm done school I'll work in some practice time to get my skills back.

But ya I remember trombone, although I probably wouldn't be able to get the all seven positions on the slide right after having not played it for so long.

Adam are you ever happy with yourself? I'm just curious because over time it seems that you are always wanting to be someone else and aren't really satisfied with who you are. I could be just misinterpreting but that is the vibe I'm getting.

Fantastic episode. Adam, what podcast did you skype into? I want to listen!

Also, the list of things Higgins is right about continues to grow. The opening of Up felt so forced I'm surprised it roped so many people in. I wouldn't say I'm done with Pixar but Up felt like a step backwards.

Anyway Final Fantasy Tactics is generally easy enough that you can uses any class you want. Monks are great but don't be afraid to play around with the different classes and abilities. I had lots of the fun in the game trying to find the most over powered combinations. Just never ever save within a castle with your only save. Many of us learned that the hard way :(

It's like a Star Trek episode. It turns out it's the fault of 2-dimencional creatures traveling through the forums.
