On this week's episode, I deliver a mini-rant about DOTA 2, and we talk about Doritos and PB&J. It's a lot better than I just made it sound.

PB&J is good, so if it's even better than it should be fine.

I haven't had a PB&J in a million years. How long does it take for peanut butter and jelly to go bad cause I think I have some from like 2+ years ago...

If you haven't ever broken the seal, it might still be good. But if you have, you should throw out that radioactive mess.

In other news, peanut butter prices are at an all time high because the drought in the South this year devastated the peanut crop - so peanut butter sandwiches are a fair amount more expensive than they used to be.

Adam Fitch, Lord of the Tangent

I'd want to give him crap about it, but I know that I'm just as bad sometimes.

Coke Zero isn't horrible. It's better than getting fat(ter). Then and again, I'm not really a fan of dark colas either, but I'll drink almost any diet soda.

Zero calorie colas are just as bad as regular colas.

The only diet soda that I can drink is caffeine-free Diet Coke, but I'll only drink that once every 5 years. I try, as a rule, to avoid them altogether. There's something in my brain that says that the diet sodas have to have something else in them.

Tingle is in Skyward Sword, he's just a little hard to find and not in his normal form. To find him, take a peek through the crack in the wall that separates Zelda's room from the other girl at the academy. Tingle is sitting on Zelda's desk. Ta-da!

Thanks, I was too lazy to look and link. Besides, I'm "working" at work.

Man, that game totally needs more textures.

Yeah it can look pretty bad at times, but I'm having too much fun with it to really notice or care.

You play it on an HDTV? I think it might make me barf.

I'm sure it looks fine on a SDTV. I was fumbling around with it at a Target, and while the jaggies and textures kind of stand out in this day and age, the art style more than compensates and makes the game look pretty.

Oh, bit of a correction about the WoW raid iLevel. The new heroics are crazy easy and give high level gear. They're really pushing people into the Raid Finder, which I think is a great idea.

Easy enough that they can be done with a P.U.G.?

Yep, there's a few cool new mechanics, but you'll have no trouble with them if you have the ilevel gear to get in. You can't get into them straight at 85, but if you do a week of heroics, you'll be plenty geared. They're more lore than fights, really.

Works for me, I've always been a lore nerd. Also since the patch it's been giving me the option to "dethrone" you as the leader of task force x, which in my opinion sounds a bit better that "kick out guild leader" :) .

Uh-oh, looks like Karen lost her job. Poopies to that, but hopefully she'll land on her feet quickly.

On the discussion of the Zelda timeline:

I also look at *most* of the Zelda series as a "this legend is being retold from different perspectives". However, there are a lot of direct references in some of the games that does suggest their is a timeline. I'm not going to go full in to that, but as a quick example: Majora's Mask is obviously a sequel to Ocarina of Time from young Link while Wind Waker seems to be a sequel to Ocarina of Time from the time where Adult Link was sent back. Phantom Hourglass is clearly what happens after the events in Wind Waker since it uses the same characters and picks up almost right after Wind Waker. Regardless, the other Zelda games are a bit more ambiguous of whether they fall into a "timeline" or a "retelling". I know Nintendo has straight up said that there *is* a timeline and that Skyward Sword is the "earliest point" in the Zelda timeline. I haven't finished the game yet, but I have seen some people who have finished the game say that the ending does suggest that there IS a timeline.

GameTrailers.com has a pretty comprehensive timeline in the Zelda retrospective.

Hope everyone gets something new relatively quickly. From the way they both talked about it on the podcast, it really sounded like the whole staff busted their collective asses to get the first quarterly edition out and now this. It definitely sucks that this happened at all, but during this time of year when there are so many other financial demands on the average household, that makes it even worse. I really hope they land on their feet soon.
