The Geekbox: Episode 150

Postby Rydog » Dec 28th, 2011 @ 1:42am

In our final Geekbox of 2011, we finally realize the dream of a dual-Fitch podcast, as Adam's twin brother Andrew joins us once again! After you listen, be sure to post some good category/nominee suggestions for our upcoming annual Geekbox Awards. We're looking for some fun/goofy stuff to talk about, in addition to the usual year-end stuff.

Also: Don't forget to check out Karen's Kickstarter page for her upcoming podcast, Good Job, Brain!

I want to propose something that i think will be good for the podcast, although will require some work.

A link dump- everything that you guys talked about during the podcast linked on the first post of the podcast episode thread. BTW its been done on other podcast namely rooster teeth's one. its very handy rather than searching throught the podcast after i get to work or home.

Good to know I'm not the only one who freaked out about 1 minute into the podcast. "BOTH Fitch's??? WOOOOO!"

EDIT- oh yeah, that potato bug pic is damned disturbing. Especially with its face ALMOST looking cute, but than having that overtaken by everything else about it being terrifying.

EDIT 2- Okay, listened to the whole episode. Dear gods, the Fitch brothers are adorable XD . Especially when they get into short bickering moments. <3

Also, I had a slight chuckle at the ability of everyone except Ryan Scott being unable/unwilling to pronounce The Silmarillion.

I could FINALLY put faces to the voices. I'm so frakken excited that their picture was posted with it too. I never knew what the Fitch's looked like, I was so pleasantly surprised.

Kinda surprising but I had way less trouble telling the Fitches apart than I did the first dozen or two episodes telling Andrew and Higgins apart. Any similarity in their voice is wildly offset by their differences in demeanor.

So-Cal as a place is pretty awesome. It's one of my favorite places in the world. It's just (some of) the people who suck. And honestly, you're going to find d-bags anywhere you go, but there feels like there's a higher proportion of them around LA. LA is a pretty superficial place, and I absolutely cannot stand all the fake-ass people with fake-ass tits and bandwagon Lakers fans with little Lakers flags on their car antennae.

That said, I don't think lots of Nor-Cal people hate So-Cal, they're just annoyed by aspects of So-Cal for one reason or another. I know that personally, I resent how entitled So-Cal is to Nor-Cal's water supplies. It frustrates me to no end to see So-Cal assholes waste water on lavish pools, pointless fountains, huge grass lawns, and endless golf courses when their water diversions from the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta are destroying local marine habitats and starving Nor-Cal farmers from adequate water for their crops.

Edit: Master Higgins since you seem to check this forum the most I trust you will relay this to everyone else for their thoughts.

Some topic/award ideas:

The Fitch Brothers Golden Wall Award for best instance of a Fitch vaguely bringing up something about their personal life and than stone-walling the other cast members when they pry further.

The KindGalaxy Wet Hot Mess Award for funniest and/or best discussion about some weird sex topic.

The Liquid Higgins Eternally 80's Award for best instance of 80s nostalgia!

The Everyone Hates the New Guy Award for most controversial guest based on number of new users that registered for the sole purpose of bitching about them.

The Justin Haywald I'm Touching My Penis Award for most awkward moment caused by a cast member's poorly/expertly placed sexual innuendo.

The Mike Cruz, Hey Remember Me Guys? Award for best call-back.

The Ryan Scott's Oh Boy Award for the television/movie/game series or person that needs to take the most serious look at just what they hell it is they are doing. Example, George Lucas/Star Wars.

The Comedy Button Casually Racist Tuesdays Award for funniest instance of a cast member saying something racist and having another cast member reprimand them for it.

The OMG SPOILERS! Award for most annoying instance of a topic (ie. Doctor Who episodes) being delayed because a cast member forgot to see/read/play it.

The Adam Fitch Top 140 Award for most time consuming hobby/game/book/TV Show/thing the cast has spent their free time on this year.

The Karen Chu I Read It On Wikipedia Award for best/worst instance of fact checking on the podcast.

The Smooth Sounds of Ray Barnholt Award for best music album/song of this year.

The Patrick Joynt "Max I am your Father" Award for best/worst thing about all things Star Wars.

Those are actually really good awards - goodjob ko.

And no offense bro, but I've got another award:

The Konanda TL;DR Award for the longest rant on the podcast in the year.

We could also call that the Kenzo Award.

Or we can just have a Geekbox Forums Award for most entertaining argument.

I posit that like the past 2 years they will use none of the listeners' suggestions for award ideas and just off-the-cuff it again.

Always an award winner

How about a best Master Troll moment: Higgins infuriates Karen and proceeds to needle it for all its worth, usually without anyone realizing it.

Hate's a strong word. I wouldn't say that Canada hates The States.

Also I wouldn't say having coyotes around would be in the wilderness per se. Those animals are everywhere, also one of the most dangerous species of the canine family aside from dogs (the larger and more aggressive breeds) themselves. Reason being is that like dogs they are much less afraid and cautious around humans.

Annoying yippy little things to, I'd hear them sometimes at night in the summer back home. Farmers hate the damn beasts as well because they are the most common predator of livestock.
