Just found it funny when Higgins got annoyed at the Simpsons criticism, and at the same time dismissed the Lore of HP without looking at the source material.

I understand his frustration, because one of the things that I hate is nostalgia filled opinions. There are very few shows that have pilots and first seasons that stand the test of time. The Simpsons is not one of them.

Well that does it for my post of the month.

I love Ray's snarky attitude this episode. Combined with Adam's pure nonsense and we have an excellent episode. All it was missing was Karen over stressing the word ignorant during Ryan's Justified theme comments.

Keep fighting the good fight Adam, I was ready for at least 30 more minutes at the end. Can't believe Ray shot you down like that!

You guys need Karen back soooo fricken bad....

At one point I'm pretty sure all 5 of you were having full conversations with yourselves...

lol Ray was trying to keep it on track for the first 15 and then, I imagine, just said 'f*ck it' and became snarky... which I appreciated :) He's welcome back any time!

Has anyone seen the RedLetterMedia reviews of them? I know RedLetterMedia has been brought up on the show before but I think it was only done so in reference to StarWars. If you've seen them, what did you think?

Three points:
-As bad as the opening song is to Enterprise, they actually make it worse later in the show by adding a bunch of buttrawk to it, in what I can only guess was a misguided attempt to make it better. Also, Enterprise's OP is probably my 2nd favorite OP simply because as you watch the show Higgins, I guarantee you'll develop Stockholm Syndrome for it.

-When Higgins talks about the Simpsons having "smart writing" and everyone makes fun of him, it's actually true. I didn't believe it at first either. But while it's "smart" IMO it still isn't "good". I had a lit professor in college who was obsessed with the Simpsons, and everyone in class made fun of her. "But it's so smart!" We didn't believe it. Of course, none of us really watched the show anymore these days - we're all in the position and saying the same things the detractors on the podcast were saying. So one day, she came to class and basically did a lecture on how the Simpsons is actually written by geniuses with doctorates from Harvard, and proved with a lot of pretty conclusive stuff how the Simpsons constantly makes references and namedrops obscure literature and ritzy topics that go over most people's heads. The problem is, it's like Family Guy to me in that it's just name dropping and not really making funny jokes or situations out of those references. It's the same kind of Family Guy lazy, it's just slightly less lazy because the references are of smart things, not dumb 80s trivia.

-I would tell Liam Neeson that he's too old to do action films, but I kinda feel bad for the guy. The man used to be an actor who did a broad range of stuff, but now it seems like all he does now is crazy hard-boiled action films where he's saving a woman or female family member. And I think that might just be his way of coping with his wife's abrupt and tragic death a few years back.

Fitch needs to be replaced by Brock and/or Ray. Or his brother, that'd be cool too. Essentially, anyone who can have an un-pervy conversation with another human being can replace him.

Isn't hillbilly supposed to be a reference to people living in the U.S. part of the Appalachian Mountains? Which would include the New England area along with, Pennsylvania? Are they considered part of the South?

But it's mostly how I find it ironic and strange that the same people from urban areas who get so worried about stereotypes of certain groups of people have no issue whatsover with applying negative stereotypes to people from rural areas and saying some pretty vile things about them as well.

From Wikipedia:

Soldier was written by David Peoples, who co-wrote the script for Blade Runner. By his own admission, he considers Soldier to be a "sidequel"/spiritual successor to Blade Runner.[2] It also obliquely references various elements of stories written by Philip K. Dick (who wrote the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, on which Blade Runner is based), or film adaptations thereof. A "Spinner" vehicle from Blade Runner can be seen in the wreckage on a junk planet that features in the film.[3]
There are also several dialogue references to events such as "Tanhauser Gate" from Blade Runner.
