Going for the Geekboxie Award for Most Missed Episodes!

Postby Rydog » May 8th, 2012 @ 10:05pm

In a development that I promise I am freaking out about way more than you are, we’re skipping a record second episode of the Geekbox in a three-week period, after an unblemished, unbroken 160-episode streak that stretches back to February 2009. The truth is, we’re all violently ill this week -- well, except for Karen, who’s wisely decided to overwork herself and avoid us, lest she also contract the black plague -- and in absolutely no shape to podcast, let alone have any protracted conversations with other human beings. If it makes you feel any better, I just threw up today! And I can’t remember the last time I did that (well, I can now, but you get the point)! See you next week, if I’m not dead.

Yes, puking really is the worst, Mr_eX. :(

Just to give you guys some fodder to talk about, and some slight insight into how I usually put together my show notes, well, here's what would have been our first-ever two-man Ryan+Ryan podcast, if we'd been able to hold a coherent conversation.

- Avengers. $702 million worldwide so far. Let's hold the spoiler talk for later.
- Higgins, have you played Trials Evolution yet? I'm curious what you think.
- There's an actual Internet meme exhibit in a real-life gallery in Los Angeles. Kill me (http://bit.ly/IAZWNb).
- Whorish Assassin's Creed III Facebook campaign (http://bit.ly/IAYx9s).
- The Elder Scrolls Online trailer debuts, details leaked. Higgins, it's another MMO to play! Aren't you excited? (http://bit.ly/IB1Q0m)
- We could talk about the whole Nintendo-losing-money thing (http://bit.ly/IAYSJ9). Also, Mario's basically an annual series now (http://bit.ly/IAYZo6).
- StarCraft II expansion will let you recover and resume crashed games. Kinda cool, not sure how much there is to say (http://bit.ly/IAZfnd).
- "The time is right for Sony and Microsoft to lower prices," says analyst. Yeah, no kidding (http://bit.ly/IAZu1v).
- Scandalous stuff involving 2K's MLB 2K12 $1 Million Perfect Game contest (http://bit.ly/IB0um4 and http://bit.ly/IB0ylR).
- Draw Something now has a semi-insidious advertising agenda (http://aol.it/IB2YRw).
- D&D co-creator Dave Arneson's private collection is getting auctioned off, and it's a ton of stuff (http://bit.ly/IB2tXE).
- Guy tries to smuggle cocaine in his Xbox 360 (http://bit.ly/IAZZIT).

I should get us some Stephen Hawking-esque voice box thingies and record a podcast that way, the next time we're all sick.

I was starting (trying to, I'm not as sick as Ryan and Fitch, but I feel like shit) to set up with Brock, when I got the text from Ryan that he was puking. Bad times all around.

The only thing worse would have been if me and Brock did an episode by ourselves!

I feel like I'm being trolled here - I just clicked on 8 joytakoid links, cleverly disguised in bit.ly urls, all of which could have simply been replaced with links to the original articles/media that is being [strike]ripped off[/strike] sourced.

Joking aside, get well soon guys. No need to apologize for having real lives and real priorities.

Hope y'all get better. Two missed episodes means the beginning of the end! I think.

There was really no reason for posting an animated gif of Mr. Rogers giving you guys the fingers, other than if none of you were sick, and the recording had been conducted as planned, it's a forgone conclusion that the affiliated discussion thread would have invariably derailed, fingers would be pointed, and F.U.s issued.

Get well soon.

Vomitting + diarrhea at the same time is worse. Had that happen to me one Saturday night after coming home from a school camping trip. Never found out what caused it although I imagine it was food poisoning from something I ate during the trip.

Also speech synthesis software.

Oh and Microsoft Anna. (Windows 7's default English text to speech voice)

I like how I get more tweets and Facebook shares when I DON'T publish a podcast. You weird, backwards people.
