Hey guys not only are there a TON of blatant MC ripoffs on XBLIG, but the people who make them are utter fucking wankers. Note, he comments in the comments thread below the article, and basically laughs it off.

I just saw this on reddit after hearing Higgins complain about not getting the Diablo III CE

I can't figure out how to resize that, the bbcode just breaks when i try to add size parameters to it.

As far as I can tell, they haven't cut anything out of the PBS airing of Sherlock.

Question:

Where does this presumption exist that someone that plays something uncomplicated would get more enjoyment out of a more complicated ver?

Would a person playing Minecraft XBL would get more enjoyment out of Minecraft PC?

Maybe that person that enjoys the game on XBL enjoys the game as is. Maybe more complication would lead to frustration and just not enjoying the game. Maybe minecraft sold because of the feature set of what it has.

A more complicate ruleset doesn't always lead to more enjoyment.

Is like saying that those that play IOS games should get a 3DS/Vita because the games there are more robust hence "better". Maybe they enjoy IOS games for what they are and would not get the same kind of enjoyment of a more complicated game.

I don't know where this logic is coming from....

Interesting. I didn't notice a difference. Then again, I was January when I first watched the episodes, so I expect my memory isn't perfect. Now I'll have to watch them again to see what exactly was cut.

It's more the real game than the PC one I'm playing - it still has the thrill in it that few PC gamers get any more because they have mods to give them whatever they want.

I have honestly been trying for a week to get back into it, even going as far as removing the mods and playing on hardcore - and it does nothing for me now, because the thrill is gone.

I'd never use a mod on Minecraft, if you're playing on survival.

You're absolutely right Audie. Some people enjoy simple shit versus something complicated and nuanced, and that's OK. Those kinds of people are called "babies" and that's why we call the games they play "baby-games."

There's certainly something to be said about the elegance of simplicity (Flower or Journey, anyone?). But there's a big difference between games that set out to be simple from the beginning, and the vast majority of iOShit games that are dumbed down versions real games only because of the system-limitations.

it's more of just a plain fact that the 360 version left out a lot of items and features so kids can play an ersatz version of minecraft on their baby consoles

To be honest, the PC version of Minecraft sounds fucking shitty now. They keep adding elements to make it more video gamey that just sound worse and worse every time I hear about them.

The only (admittedly major) feature the 360 version lacks, which is also the reason I couldn't support it, is that it doesn't have persistent/dedicated servers. Being able to go into your friends' world to see what they've built is fine and all but the best part about Minecraft to me is the idea of a community coming together to play digital LEGO together.

I think that the PC version of Minecraft has Become more of a Template for people to create. We play Minecraft For the mods and the adventure maps, This is where the magic exists in the game.

I think that Ryan and everyone who hasn't tried should take a look at multi-player adventure maps. And Then download the Technic Launcher, This doesn't mod your minecraft, it actually makes its own 5 folders with mod packs and allows you to easily play the mods and you can keep your old .minecraft folder.
With mods like industrial craft, you get an actual end game, and I personally cannot stop playing. Watch a few youtube videos and check it out Higgins, I understand why you wouldn't use a mod but this one is worth it.

While I completely agree with you liquid about the servers, this is a deal breaker.
The Xbox version was submitted as the 1.6 alpha and they needed to recode it so it can be used on XBLA. Mojang Does alot of recoding each release and they could not submit the updates during the process because the studio would have to start over again. I believe they did quite admirably and even got the controls 75% right. PS3 allows users and developers to add keyboard and mouse support. Xbox cannot do that because windows is similar to another console for them.

It's a disposable line that happens really quickly and you probably missed it among some other laughter. At the beginning of the final battle, Cap is giving everyone orders, and part of the orders is for Iron Man to fly around, and for Hawkeye to shoot people from the high ground. So Iron Man gives Hawkeye a lift to the top of a skyscraper. But before doing so, he warns Hawkeye, "clench up, Legolas."

Are we at the point where Karen disagrees with Higgins just because? I don't think expecting a collectors edition to be on store shelves was that shocking an idea...
