We're a bit low-energy in this week's episode... but wouldn't you be too, if you found out Spider-Man advocated using Bing?

I am a brand new listener to the show...I've listened to 171 - 175 and I enjoy the show. The only complaint I have is in every show I've listened ppl are eating at certain points.....just annoying :-0

Are nerds/geeks actually popular now? I always assumed when seeing that play out in media its just wish fulfillment as people who were bullied in school grew up and started writing TV shows and movies

No. But you're much less likely to be singled out because of your hobbies, and normal kids are much more likely to have geeky hobbies as well.

"Let's not say spoilers" then you guys reveal plot spoilers for movies after the fact. You guys need to be more careful. Last episode was nuts but good thing I watched all those movies or I would've rage quit the episode. Stop with spoilers unless you warned first. It would be much appreciated.

Also, Ryan, you're way too early in FFXIII-2 to make a judgement call. The battle system is significantly improved and streamlined over FFXIII. You can change combat styles on the fly and you can recruit monsters later (which I can tell you didn't get to cuz you were confused when Higgins mentions dressing them up). It's not the same as FFXIII at all. Give it a chance. You sounded like that guy Higgins mentioned who would leave movies after 15-20 minutes.

I too am disappointed that we'll almost never see Guillermo Del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness, which would probably help propel some decent Lovecraft movies to be made. However Pacific Rim sounds and looks more rad the more I hear and see stuff about it.

The week leading up to the release of The Avengers I trolled people on twitter by posting up pictures of Silver Surfer with a "Spoiler Alert for The Avengers."

Never before have I seen so many nerds trip over themselves to insult me. It was a fun experiment.

I haven't posted since like episode 2, but Higgins' opinion about Spiderman is so wrong. Soooo wrong. Impressively wrong. Remember Fitch last episode. Remember how frustrated he was with Higgins'? That's how I felt this time. He calls this spiderman "emo", when Peter Parker was actually parting his hair in classic emo fashion and had an emo montage in spiderman 3. AHHHHH.

In all seriousness, all is well. I'm just attached to this spiderman because he is the one I recognize from my childhood (the cartoons). He was snarky/clever as opposed to serious/dramatic like the last peter, and he had web shooters.

Off the top of my head, all the Final Fantasies since 2000 (FF9):

- Final Fantasy X
- Final Fantasy X-2
- Final Fantasy XI (and associated expansions)
- Final Fantasy XII
- Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
- Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
- Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
- Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lion
- Final Fantasy Brigade
- Final Fantasy Dimensions
- Final Fantasy III (DS)
- Final Fantasy IV (DS)
- Final Fantasy IV: The After Years
- Final Fantasy I&II: Dawn of Souls
- Final Fantasy I&II (PSP)
- Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light
- Dissidia: Final Fantasy
- Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Final Fantasy XIII-2
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
- Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerebrus
- Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord
- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers

I'd like to know how many of these Ryan Scott actually played (and I mean, *actually* played, rather than picking up for an hour or toying around with a demo and then rage quitting) before making the blanket statement that Theatrhythm was better than every single FF since IX

I haven't played a single FF its not my style of game. Why do they release a FF13-2, is it like Street Fighter and Super Street Fighter where they release a game and then release the same game with a tiny bit more content and charge 30 bucks?

Only 6 of those are remakes or re-releases. That's only 20% of the titles kenzo posted. (not including the expansions to FFXI that he did not post) Now if you said a lot of them are spinoff series that would be a correct statement.

wondercoolguy wrote:I haven't played a single FF its not my style of game. Why do they release a FF13-2, is it like Street Fighter and Super Street Fighter where they release a game and then release the same game with a tiny bit more content and charge 30 bucks?

They added much more than just a tiny bit of content. They have new areas, a new way of traversing between those areas, new battle mechanics designed to encourage being efficient at battle at the get go instead of in late/post-game stuff, they changed character customisation, party dynamics, added in monster collection and customisation, more ways of getting gil, more varied and plentiful sidequests that become available much earlier, a sort of dialogue choice system, changed how you engage enemies by adding the Mog Clock, and well that's just the start.

FFXIII-2 is a substantial change from FFXIII in many ways (personally I think it's the better of the two for a bunch of reasons), have you even played it to know what has been changed or added?

Konanda got to my points before I could. Also, not only are a small fraction of those remakes/re-releases, they're all either remakes so significant and thorough that they're hardly the same game (Like FF3&4), but they're also for games that never really got releases over here (like Final Fantasy 2, 3, 4: After Years).

And yeah - like someone pointed out earlier in the thread, Ryan Scott sounded completely befuddled about dressing up his monster - which conclusively of proves that he doesn't know shit about FF13-2, and his assessment that "it's exactly the same" is born from complete ignorance on the issue.

Hearing Ryan be dumbfounded by Master Higgins on FFXIII-2 because he hasn't actually played it was pretty funny.

Also, speaking of TLC.

That exists, it's a show that's on television about events and the preperation for those events that actually happens. Ugh, society is gross.

It sounded like they didn't really get what Steam Greenlight is. It's not some competition where every week the community votes on what new game gets added.

I thought it was where Activision or Capcom or 2K would put videos and screenshots of their whole PC back catalogue on Steam's "kickstarter", and then when the bars fill up for certain games and shows them a demand, would then deliver a version for Steam. I think this is not really going to be used as much by indies, more so the big publishers with loads of PC games and licences that could put out a working Steam version if they set their own numbers for what's considered a profitable demand. Rather than Steam doing this because "they are lazy or too busy" to approve games, I think it's so that publishers come forward to them with games they already know the community directly will support. I mean, we could all say we want to see a working version of X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter on Steam, but if Lucasarts sets their own bar at say 100,000 people and then gets said support, then they would actually put a team on it. Correct me if I'm wrong about this whole thing?
