I used to love the Things From Another World store that was in the Metreon for a few years. It was easily the best thing there (besides the MS Store and the Sony Style shop). But this was teenage kenzo who loved lampshades and not actual comics.

TFAW has a lot of lampshades.

The South Bay is teeming with above average shops many of which that have withstood the test of time. I suppose if I wasn't so spoiled by the local offerings I'd probably have a similar fondness for S.F.'s TFAW, but truth be told the thing I missed most when that shop folded was the loss of the life-size Robby the Robot that was parked right outside the shop. Now the Maurice Sendak Where the Wild Things Are/In the Night Kitchen store that used to be on the upper-level of the Metreon, that one I miss.

Yeah, a lot of that nostalgia is born from the fact that I just didn't realize the bay area was completely teeming with awesome mom&pop shops at that tender age. But TFAW was, to young kenzo, the Wal-Mart of nerdy lampshades.
