Good Job, Brain! #30: ALL QUIZ BONANZA! #6

Postby Karen » Sep 24th, 2012 @ 2:59pm

Another multiple of 5 episode, so it's time for all quiz. This one's dedicated to our top backer and we designed quiz around the topics he likes :)

- rockstar alter egos and pseudonyms
- Is it Belgium....or not Belgium?
- Quentin Tarantino characters
- Western film remakes of Asian movies
- Brainiacs Book Club: featuring our own Giant Asian Man
- Video game trivia (the hard part was actually writing general videogame questions)
- X-Men super powers
- Scientist anagrams
- Sci-fi/horror movie quotes
- Carmin San Mateo clue + puzzle

How long you guys spend on researching and making quizzes for these? Feels like a lot of work goes into your average episode of GJB as opposed to 99% of podcasts.
What I saw / What I heard / What I did / What I read
kenzo, if you are going to comment on stuff you think you know about at least try to make a claim that is reasonable and not just unfounded rhetoric and hot air.

This is kind of the general pattern of our week regarding podcast prep. Not set in stone, just a general glance:

Tuesday & Wednesday: suggest possible topics to each other

Thursday: decide on a topic, then I make a shared outline/brainstorm document to figure out structure and themes. People start jotting down their ideas and filling the outline out. This is to inspire each other but also to avoid duplicate information.

Friday & Saturday: We each research our own stuff. I usually use this time to beta test a quiz format or wording if I have a quiz.

Sunday: We record. Then I edit.

Monday: Publish/Sleep

For me, the prep work is fairly simple since it's easy to read about things that are interesting. But editing is intense. Editing, out of all of this stuff, seriously takes the most amount of time. I am super duper slow.
