Listened to that driving in the other morning. I would audibly say it the correct way every time he mispronounced it.

Like, I'll admit it's a dumb pseudonym, but it's SPECIFICALLY made to be a play on the phrase "quite frankly" not "QUIET frankly" because that would be fucking nonsense. It's embarrassing that Higgins still fucks this up after working in the comics industry so long.

GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDdddddddddddddddddd Omar's even a Deathstroke fan... Deathstroke "wasted" on Arrow?! Bro you are fucking out of your mind if you don't watch this shit. Season 2 is PREMIUM DEATHSTROKING ALL OVER MY FACE.

I went back and flipped thru the first couple pages of our Arrow thread and a lot of us had a lot of problems with the first half of the first season. The show definitely had some growing pains. A couple pages in tho when the 2nd half of season one and practically all of season 2 the show gets so off the fucking hook it ain't even funny.

IT LITERALLY MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE TO ME! NO ASPECT OF THE OLLIE/SLADE RELATIONSHIP IN SEASON TWO OF ARROW FEELS LIKE CHEAP SHITTY EMOTEEN WB-CALIBER STORYTELLING! IT IS FUCKING RAD AND DEATHSTROKE IS A FUCKING CRAZY AWESOME VILLAIN AND SO MANY OF THE WAYS HE PULLS STRINGS TO FUCK WITH OLLIE IN SEASON TWO IS AMAZING AND ITS SUCH A GOOD SHOW AND OMAR WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU FUCKASMANASJJJUAAAAAWHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I keep hearing him say he wants these shows to be on FX so he can get some "mature" version of these stories with lesbian sex or whatever the fuck he's going on about, but like dude are you forgetting the fact that comic books by and large, and ESPECIALLY the characters from DC and Marvel are made for teenagers? Considering the target demographic for the subject material and the reputation of WB as a teen-pandering network, it's actually kind of crazy how actually mature the show can be. I really do hope Omar can eventually stomach watching this show long enough to get to the fucking sick episode late in season 2 where Ollie and his mom are giving Slade the tour of the house. What a fucking rad episode that was.

Gonna go ahead and say that even as your tumblr-iest listener, I literally fell asleep in the middle of reading Gotham Academy.

Also Thor consisted of one neat two page spread (marred by that damned AR logo,) one cool panel, and essentially 21 pages of nothing advancing the plot. This should have been an issue zero. Books can occasionally get away with showing you a setting and supporting cast, then having the titular character show up at the end, but they are written in a way to build the world and draw you into the setting and cast that will function as a backdrop for the character. In this case we know who all the Asgardians are, a paragraph of exposition on the credits page recaps the same material that the book then uses 60% of its content recapping again, and Odin and Freya bickering does nothing to endear these characters to a newer reader or make them want to stick around. New Thor showing up on the last page has all the same pathos and narrative impact as seeing the cover on the shelf. I'm willing to buy issue 2 because I'm stubborn, but I doubt anyone else will bother. Way to launch a book right into the garbage can, Marvel.

On the other hand, I also picked up Society of Superheroes since I skipped a few weeks, and that was fantastic. Probably my favorite part being the contrast of Immortal Man's deliberative fashioning a weapon while Vandal's assurance of his own superiority makes him think "I will just fucking bludgeon him to death with a rock"

I actually really liked Gotham Academy. I don't know why it's a print comic though. It should probably be a webcomic or straight-to-trade. Especially since I don't know how this fits into N52 continuity at all.

I flipped through Thor #1. Was promised gender bent Thor. Didn't even get girlThor. Just Thor being a little bitch because someone said something mean to him in his ear. girlThor won't last either based on how this is all set up. I'm supremely disappointed in Marvel.

I'm LOLing really hard right now at you LiQuid, BTW. This is a classic moment of cognitive dissonance where you've realized your hero is a real human being with flaws and isn't perfect.

It blows my mind, LiQuid, that you have such a double standard when it comes to Brock hate, and Omar/Bryce love. They're the exact same, just replace Marvel-hate with DC-hate, and multiply by 2.

Great episode guys. Loved the topics and banter.

Gotham seems to be finding its stride. I think the villains for episode 2 were inspired by Dr. Milo's thugs from the Batman animated series from the 90's. If you want to watch an episode they appear in watch Cat Scratch Fever one of the worst episodes in the series because it is largely about Catwoman and Batman dealing with cats that have super rabies. Probably a coincidence, but I thought one of the two thugs in the Gotham episode had Dr. Milo's hair cut.

Nope! It's more for a general Q&A thread, and we'll take some from twitter, the forums, patreon, and email, same as always.

We didn't even ask this week because we had so many thinks to talk about, and didn't get to them all.

Marvel did some really terrible deals during that time period because they were so desperate for cash. Universal Studios Orland has exclusive regional rights to those characters until the end of time. I would not be shocked if Marvel were desperate/stupid enough to give Fox the movie rights for a very, very long time if not in perpetuity.

All, except for maybe some of the Spider-Man and FF2, depending on how bad the next ones are.

Funny enough, used that same chart in the episode tonight!
