Kids on the Slope is really good, but it's short.

You, and everybody should watch Space Dandy. It's basically Cowboy Bebop, but if every episode was as ridiculous as Mushroom Samba, with a classic 40s scifi aesthetic. It's also made by the same people with the BEST music.

Toby, don't watch Naruto, it's a waste of time with more filler than not. Just read the manga.

Haha that would require me to dig up all my books. They are in storage and random boxes. But thanks for the heads up, I'll probably just hold off on Naruto (I did enjoy the original till it turned into DBZ with the long ass fights), and watch Kids on the Slope instead.

I think Higgins started watching Space Dandy. Oh Kids on the Slope is on Hulu so I'm good there. (Hopefully its not edited).

Neither of you watch my little monster? It reminds a bit of His and Hers Circumstances.

High School DxD any good or fun? Or just fan service?

OR Toby, don't be a shitter and just read it on the internet for free! You already bought them, so it's not like you're reading it without paying. Besides, that hack Kishimoto doesn't deserve your money.

Toby wrote:I think Higgins started watching Space Dandy.
Space Dandy is, no exaggeration, literally the greatest anime of the decade. If Higgins is actually watching it, you need to watch it too so that you can take over the podcast for a few minutes and talk all about how amazing Space Dandy is. You'd love it dude, it's right up your alley. Omar would DEF love it, but that guy is off being Space Dandy in who knows where.

Toby wrote:Neither of you watch my little monster?
I didn't recognize the show by its English title. :o
It's a pretty OK romcom. It's a shojo show that's fairly all-demographic friendly. Just don't show it to SJWs, because the MC makes a few rape jokes.

HOWEVER, if you want a shojo romcom that's not just pretty OK and actually AMAZING, watch a show called Ore Monogatari! It's bretty gud.

Toby wrote:High School DxD any good or fun? Or just fan service?
In my understanding of it, it goes beyond fan service and into the realm of softcore pornography. If you're going to watch that, you might as well just watch straight up hentai, dude.

Toby, did I hear correctly that you didn't like Green Arrow/Black Canary? Or was it some other book featuring one of those characters?
Also, an idea I heard a few years ago and still subscribe to is that Bruce Wayne as Batman is the least interesting character in the Bat-Family, yet the family still manages to be great. This was brought up around the time when Dickbats was a thing and Bruce was dead/stuck in the past.

Okay, just found your podcast and thought I would pop into the forum to say hi, so ... "Hi!"

I already sent a tweet (or 20 ... heehee) to Tobey about Arrow and I know I am starting on the wrong foot here, but I just can't take that show. I think the CW is a channel set more for a much younger age group anyway ... like 14 to 17 years old ... and my old butt just can't take it. Now I am not knocking you guys (or anyone) for watching the show, nor enjoying it, even greatly enjoying it, but you have to admit Arrow (and Flash, at times) is kinda "beef hunky/teen drama" orientated. This old man just 'can't hang'. haha

Now Flash can certainly go the soap opera way at times in it's story telling, but I think it is a little less obtrusive as the sticky sweet, teen angst Arrow. I think I can deal with the Flash more as it isn't as infused with that kind of stuff, though it has some. I also like the Flash more than GL so that helps. Ha

Okay, nothing like starting my first post in a negative way, ha, but please know I am not slamming you or anyone. Just my own take on the show, or CW I guess, not knocking anyone else for enjoying them.

Bottom line, glad to have found your show and find it fun to listen to.

Peace, and I will be more positive next time!!!

I'm 34 years old and Arrow is probably in like my top 10 TV shows ever made. It's so dumb... I don't know how people have such a hard time getting over the bad teen melodrama. Comics books themselves are like 90% bad, teen melodrama...

I don't care about people hating the melodrama in Arrow. Because different strokes and stuff. What I don't get is people hating Arrow's teen melodrama, but liking it in Flash. Because OMG, it's sooooo much worse in the Flash. Arrow owns its stupid melodrama and revels in it. Flash spends half of its time being disturbingly happy-go-lucky about really serious shit (like meta-Guantanamo they were running in their basement), then there's really weird and rapid tonal shifts about stuff that's comparatively much more trivial (I'm sry I lied 2 u about ur deadbeat mom). If I gotta watch black-dad or white-dad cry one more time like little bitches I'm going to have an aneurysm.

I just don't like "teen melodrama" :D I have no interest in it and it makes my skin crawl every time I try to watch Arrow. I raised 4 kids. I am over listening to all that.
HAHA

I am NOT bashing those that enjoy/love the show (or teen melodrama for that matter ;) ) but no, not for me at all.

And as for comics being teen drama filled? Depends on the comics you read.
Going back and reading the ones that got me into comics all those years ago ... yeah ... they can be rough  , but today's' writers, for the most part, do a great job of taking a lot of that out. But again, depends on the story/writer

Plus, I read more Image stuff or more non-cape and tights stuff nowadays, and they tend to be on the opposite end of the spectrum of "teen" drama. (But I still enjoy my spandex heroes from time to time)

I get the opposite. But hey, yes, they are both pretty heavy. All cool.

Trust me, if I didn't grow up reading Flash (and yeah, my old butt remembers when Carmine Infantino was the artist, way before Wally) I would also not be able to take that show. However, the rouges gallery is what is keeping me on that show. Regardless of what show you enjoy more, you just can't compare Green Arrow's villains list to the Flash's. Just waiting to see some of those great (though yes, cheezy) characters is why I tune in each week. Am I happy with how they are treating most of them? Not really, Cold is ... yeah ... , but Grodd? Awesome!!
:D

The thing about Arrow is that they don't just limit it it GA's Rogue's Gallery, probably because he has so few of his own. They do kind of pull from whatever at this point, similar to how Flash handles it.
