This is the thread to discuss our comic book podcast -- The Comic Conspiracy.

LISTEN TO THE LATEST EPISODE: The Comic Conspiracy: Episode 295 (2017-01-31)
This week, we discuss Marvel's digital code feedback, Bernie Wrightson, Affleck not directing Batman, Music Meister, Moon Girl, the Riverdale pilot, and a bunch of listener questions. Starring Ryan Higgins, Bryce Larsen, Brock Sager, Toby Sidler, and Charlie West.
Running Time: 1h 36m 02s

(Note: We had separate threads for all episodes up through The Comic Conspiracy #90. We're trying a single-stickied-thread strategy for each of our shows now, to keep everything from getting lost in a ton of threads. Please post all episode discussion in this thread!)

Great to hear Omar and Kris representing the funky music in contrast to the unbearable whiteness of Higgins.

Yeah, my musical taste is aaaaalmost entirely made by white people, with the exception of some old ska.

The best part about Higgins' music is that you know you don't want to click on any of it just based on the youtube thumbnails.

Out of Higgin's gobbledy gook I only heard of five of them and the only one I really like is VNV Nation.

LiQuid you're on the edge between "Not liking Asian (i.e. Japanese) things" to "sounding kind of racist".

Melody of that song reminds me of Love Spit Love's Am I Wrong with some goofy synth.

I assure you that's merely a coincidence. To be fair, I've only met like 3 azns in real life but they all liked really REALLY bad music.

Alright here are my music samples! You guys already know that I love comics and movies as well as some basketball. However life ain't complete without some good tunes!

I really do listen to all kinds of music, and even try out and research music that I don't know well. (as Ryan knows very well, since I ask him a lot of questions about his music). I love my rock, I love my old school pop, love me some alternative. Lately I've been listening to a lot of GroupLove, Passion Pit, and Foster the People. But for me in the end it always comes back to good old hip hop (which makes Ryan's ear bleed for some reason).

And I mean Hip Hop, not necessarily the crappy rap you hear on the radio these days. I could start w/ the classics such as Tribe called quest, Mos Def, Wu Tang Clan. But that's just stuff that everyone already knows about and what fun is sharing music that everyone already knows?

I may have to do this in parts, as there's probably too much to cover.

Let's start with with where I'm from, the good old bay area!

While the Bay has been home to some great Hip Hop such as the Hieroglyphics collective, for me it starts with Quannum Projects, my favorite record label besides Rhymsayers. Qunnam's got some dope ass artists on its label such as: DJ Shadow, Pigeon John, and General Electriks. And my absolute favorites of them are: Lyrics Born, Lateef the Truthspeaker, Latyrx (Lateef and Lyrics Born together), and Gift of Gab/Blackalicious.

If you guys are ever in the bay, I urge you to go to one of their live shows. You won't regret it.

And with that I'll start with some footage from at Latryx show from 2011, shot by yours truly (on the phone). It starts with Lyrics Born and Lateef, follow by one of my favorite Lateef acts, and I threw in the cypher they had at the end of the show where everyone that opened up came back on stage. Jazz and R&B artists were rhyming! And yes those are strings and horns you are seeing at a hip hop show!

Spoiler: show

Go for it, but you should enclose your lists within spoiler tags or something so that you don't break my browser by having to load 40 youtube videos at the same time, and maybe condensing the lists so that they aren't across so many posts. If you find yourself needing to add more songs, you don't have to create a new post, you can edit them into an older one.

Binary Star - Honest Expression:
