The Geekbox: Brodeo Reunion 2009

Postby Rydog » Sep 9th, 2009 @ 11:45am

At long last, here's the GFW Radio reunion panel from Penny Arcade Expo 2009, split into two files. I hope everyone enjoys it! We sure had a blast. :)

Why do you think it took so long to get put up?

Great show. The five of you were on the top of your game. This did not disappoint in any way whatsoever and now has me yearning for a new GFW podcast next week. :(

While reading the post about this, Africa by Toto came on my itunes shuffle....it was oddly epic and yet so tragic.

How is it possible for a podcast to be that good?

I'm sure this has been answered a ton of times, but why wasn't Chuf on the panel?

If you listen to the opening few minutes of the Reunion, Jeff Green states that due to the strict "no Hispanics" policy Anthony couldn't be on the podcast.

I've answered this elsewhere so I'll just quote my explanation: "I have nothing against Anthony or Darren. When it comes right down to it, I made the decision based on numbers for the event and the closing of the magazine as the dividing line between 'old' and 'new' CGW/GFW Radio. Six or seven people at a long table having a discussion is difficult, if not impossible, to pull off. As it is, I think five is pushing it, but when it came down to which five, I kept coming back to the core of Jeff, Shawn, Sean, Ryan, and Robert. Darren's last appearance was December 2007, and Anthony wasn't made a regular until (approx.) May 2008. GFW Magazine closed down April 16, 2008, and the core really consisted of Jeff, Shawn, Sean, Ryan, and Robert."

Anthony was there and he even got some props from the panel and the crowd. He definitely wasn't forgotten. He even signed my poster -- thanks, Anthony!

Thats a nice story and all but I think we all know the real reason Chuf wasn't on the panel is because you're anti Yaddle

Far from it. Go back and listen to GFW Radio for Aug.20/08, specifically Anthony reading comments from his blog. Anthony reads one about a Rodian and a Wookie getting to know a Yaddle cosplayer -- that's mine!

The idea that Anthony or Robert out-rep Gladstone is hilarious to me. The fact is, Jeff Green has some nursery-school beef with Gladstone and the banana riders just opened up and swallowed this sentiment like they always do. Jeff Green is a hilarious guy - so clearly his word is gospel (as in Bible).

I ride no one's banana. It was my decision. FULL STOP. I have no idea what might have transpired between Jeff and Darren (if anything) and, you know what, I don't care.

Did you listen to the Reunion podcast?

Thank you for splitting this into two parts.

I've only listen to part 1 so far, and I'm really getting sick of hearing developers whine about how hard it is to make a game and those nasty, terrible, meanie critics.

It was an okay first podcast, but I don't think these guys could make a regular thing of it. They introduced some guy called Ryan Scott, but he barely talked during this entire podcast, What The Hell. The host of Geekbox is much more talkative.

I look at it this way. When Ryan is around Karen, Higgins, Fitch and such he is on equal ground. When he is around Sean, Shawn and Robert he is the little brother who can't get a word in edgewise without getting cut off or shouted down. And like most little brothers he sits there and takes it until "Dad" Green steps in and lets him speak.
